Maurice Strong at Root of Global Warming Scam

Canadian oil billionaire Maurice Strong, Secretary General at the Rio de Janeiro United Nations 1992 Conference on Environment and Development, expressed the goal of Sustainable Development by declaring a partial list of what is not sustainable:
“...current life-styles and consumption patterns of the affluent middleclass [e.g. Americans]—involving high meat intake [e.g. cattle production], use of fossil fuels [e.g. air and auto travel, industrial and consumer products], appliances [e.g. refrigeration] home and work air-conditioning and suburban housing are not sustainable.”

Godfather of Global Green Thinking Steps Out of Shadows at Rio+20

Godfather of global environmentalism resurfaces

Maurice Strong, the godfather of global environmentalism and organizer of the United Nations' 1992 Rio environmental Earth Summit, is making a quiet comeback to the limelight on the eve of that meeting’s successor, the Rio + 20 summit on "sustainable development," which starts June 20 in Brazil [home of the third temple].

Strong, 82, has been taking part in a variety of conference side-events prior to the three-day meeting of some 130 top-level international leaders, part of a growing wave of hoopla and promotion that will climax at the summit leadership sessions. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is leading the U.S. delegation there.

His appearance at Rio + 20  is also the latest stage in a Long March through controversy that has kept Strong, a native Canadian who is widely deemed to be one of the key instigators of the global environmental movement, living a low-profile life in China for the past half-decade.

Now Strong is back on one of the stages where he feels most comfortable--a global U.N. conference on the environment--though the role he may play in the leaders' sessions is not known. Questions sent by Fox News to the Rio + 20 conference organizers on Monday about his role had not been answered before this article was published.

Nonetheless, on Monday evening, Strong was introduced as a "very special guest of honor" at a "Corporate Sustainability Forum" organized by the U.N. Global Compact, a corporate group that has signed onto a variety of U.N. social and development goals. In a brief address, Strong lauded the assembled executives as "the most important meeting of Rio + 20," and noted the number of corporate representatives attending from "the country where I live, which is called China."
"If we are going to achieve the world we want, and not just the world we are going to get if we stay on the same course, it's got to be led by the business community," he said. "The real actors, the people who are going to make the change are the people in this room."
While Strong's presence is low-key, there is no doubt the U.N. has brought him to Rio in an official capacity, if nothing else as a living relic of the successful 1992 Earth Summit, where Strong served as conference secretary general. Strong has recently described himself as a "senior advisor to the secretary general" of the Rio + 20 conference, a high-level Chinese bureaucrat named Sha Zukang, who is also a top member of the U.N. Secretariat.

Documents examined by Fox News show that the Beijing office of the United Nations Development Program has paid Strong's way, with a $13,000 round-trip air ticket from Beijing to New York to Rio and back. His hotels and living expenses are also being picked up, in what amounts to a three-week Rio + 20 junket.

Along the way, Strong has stirred up controversy, after he stopped off in Canada late last month to slam the incumbent Prime Minister, Stephen Harper, as a man whose "ideology seems to over-ride his understanding" on issues of climate change. Many Canadians were dismayed by the comments.

Conservative Party leader Harper withdrew Canada late last year from the Kyoto Protocol on reducing greenhouse gas emissions, citing its crippling costs. Betwixt and between his many U.N. postings, Strong has been associated with the opposition Liberal Party.

Controversy, along with radical environmental and economic views, is what Strong has long been known for. He took up residence in Beijing in 2005, after serving as the U.N.'s special envoy to North Korea, when investigators of the Oil for Food scandal uncovered the fact that he had cashed a check for nearly $1 million from Tongsun Park, a South Korean political fixer later convicted of conspiring to bribe U.N. officials on behalf of Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein.

Strong was never accused of any wrongdoing, and said his move to China at that time was no more than a coincidence.

Since then Strong, an avowed life-long socialist, has been engaged, in low-key fashion, in a number of business deals involving the Chinese government. He also served as a director of the Chicago Climate Exchange, one of the first attempts to create a commercial cap-and-trade market in the U.S. Recently, he has also taken part in preliminary walk-up meetings for Rio + 20 in China, though without official title.

Giving Strong one last star turn on a U.N. environmental stage, despite his past brushes with scandal, is an interesting gambit for the U.N, though it has apparently approached the matter cautiously.

The fact is that Strong is the closest thing to global environmentalism’s patron saint--or, to conservative critics, the foremost grey eminence of the movement to expand "global environmental governance"--which is once more on the international agenda at Rio + 20. His presence adds another dimension of historical luster among fervent environmentalists, something that has been lacking as the gathering bogged down in negotiating acrimony in its preliminary stages.

Rio + 20 conference: Negotiators producing a mammoth, messy and expensive grab bag of regulations and demands

Three of the continuing, controversial themes of Strong's long U.N. career, are uppermost at Rio + 20:
  1. strong support for China as a world power,
  2. a greater role for global regulation of the environment, and
  3. a radical overhaul of the world’s economic system.
All three will be on prominent display in Rio, where Sha Zukang serves as conference secretary general, "global environmental governance" is a conference theme, and developed and developing countries are battling over wealth transfers worth trillions in the context of "sustainable development" and measures to establish a new, "global green economy."

For his part, Strong has been publicly arguing the need for urgent action on the Rio + 20 conference agenda, extolling the need for a  revitalized greenhouse gas suppression agenda and a "revolution" in the world economy in, a June 4 article in Latin America that used his senior advisor title.
"Rio+20 must reinforce international efforts to reach agreement and renewal of the Climate Change Convention and its implementation," he declared.
The Environmental and Economic Crises Share the Same Cause

The article was published by a news service, Tierramerica, which says it is a joint project of the United Nations Environmental Program (UNEP), the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), and the World Bank. Strong has been writing similar pieces for Tierramerica for a number of years.

Using a UNEP-created news agency as the vehicle for an article by a former UNEP executive director to further the cause of greater global sway for UNEP is the kind of inventive but also self-aggrandizing public relations thinking that Strong has long brought to the U.N., and that played no small part in his long ascent to prominence.

Strong has spent nearly half of his life promoting a U.N.-centered vision on environmental issues. In 1972, he served as secretary-general of the U.N.'s Conference on the Human Environment--which, in turn, helped to spawn the United Nations Environmental Program later that year--whereupon Strong became its first executive director.

After filling a number of business roles back in his native Canada, Strong returned to run the Earth Summit, which gave global environmentalism another huge boost. He became a close advisor to U.N. Secretary General Kofi Annan, helping him to generate a still unfulfilled blueprint for U.N. reform.

Former UNEP boss and environmentalist Maurice Strong's interview with Leo Hickman

June 23, 2010

What's your reaction to how your name has been used and abused over the years?

I've got used to criticisms and, naturally, I try to make sure I don't listen to the more extreme ones because most of the people who have taken their rightwing extremist view of my life are people that I've never met. Most of my supporters are people who actually know me. I just continue to do the best I can and I don't bother to try and respond to every little bit because the best response is just to keep on doing what you think is right.

Is this a phenomenon that has happened over the past decade or so during the internet age, or have you attracted criticism all your career stretching back to the 1960s?

Way back when I headed the Stockholm Conference on the Environment in 1972, I was roundly criticised then. I learn something from criticism because when it comes from sources you respect you always examine it and learn. However, the extreme criticism and attacks exclusively come from people I don't know who have an ideological basis for their criticism, and, most often, very little factual basis. I remember years ago the rightwing magazine in the US, the National Review, had me on their cover saying something like Maurice Strong is not a household name, but it perhaps the most dangerous person around, but they didn't interview me or anything. But I've had my positives too. Just recently I was in the Netherlands receiving the Franklin Roosevelt Freedom award.

Some of the criticism, particularly in this internet age, can be like a virus, going completely unchallenged…

If I spent my time responding to it I'd be doing nothing else. The best thing is just to keep doing what you think is right. I have a website for people to get some factual information about me. That is a type of response, I suppose. Anyone who is seriously interested in me would usually do a little more homework and realise that the extreme criticisms are almost exclusively ideologically based. And they don't bother with facts, they just distort or misrepresent the facts. They haven't silenced me.

Are you now retired?

I passed retirement age at the UN long ago. I left after the role I was in most recently which was Kofi Annan's representative in the North Korean issue. But North Korea withdrew their support for the UN and, incidentally, I drew some negative comments about why I left the UN, too. But it just happened that my contract expired and I was already over retirement age.

So there's nothing in the allegations about your involvement in the oil-for-food scandal?

There was lots of controversy about it, but very little attention was paid when it become clear that I didn't [have any involvement]. I had nothing to do with the oil-for-food scandal and there was an enquiry that made this clear. But I did have a relationship with one of the people involved with helping me on North Korea, who came from North Korea itself. That gave rise to some controversy and then when there was a report on it that made clear that I had not done any of those things there was very little publicity for that.

I am retired from all my official roles, but I am still very active. I have close relationships at the UN. I don't have any role at the UN, but I'm still quite cooperative with a number of UN activities, in particular to China and that region. I don't have any government responsibilities or formal role. I continue to be active, though.

Have you wound down your business interests?

I don't do very much. My son is the main shareholder of my company and I help him explore some of those opportunities that are related to things I know about, such as energy and the environment. But I'm active because I can't think of anything else to do in my so-called retirement.

A lot of the criticism you seem to attract is founded on the belief that, via your extensive portfolio of business interests and bureaucratic roles, you are somehow plotting to establish a new world order. How do you respond to this accusation?

I think it exaggerates my influence, my power and my intention. Anyone who wants to look at the record over the years can see that I've been subjected to that kind of criticism, but I've always made it clear that I do not believe that global government is either necessary of feasible. What I do believe is that we need a system of global governance through which nations can cooperate and deal with issues they cannot deal with alone. Maybe that statement is too sophisticated for some but it shouldn't be.

The ultimate example is climate change. I prepared a piece recently on what I call the "Survival Agenda", pointing out that the UN agenda has something like 150 items on it and it is impossible to get an item off the agenda due to the constituencies that keep them on there. However, many just don't need to be on there. They can be dealt with by other organisations, or are no longer relevant compared to when they were put on the agenda. What we need is to give special priority to those issues that affect our actual survival and I've boiled this down to about seven issues. We've got to realise that we blithely assume that life will continue no matter what because it always has. But it's not correct that it always has.

Look at the history of planet earth – there's only a minute moment of time when the conditions have been conducive to human life. We are literally altering those conditions and my motivation is to alert people to this. I believe that we need a degree of cooperation on these issues that goes beyond anything we've ever seen before. During a war we get a lot of co-operation, but we also get a lot of rivalry. In the second world war, nations co-operated. There are examples of co-operation during periods of special need. But things are happening now that could really affect the future of humanity and that's what drives me. It doesn't mean I'm right about everything, but that is my purpose.

A common cry among your critics is that you are a socialist, a communist. Your links to China and North Korea give rise to that view with some. This, they argue, is all part of some secret agenda to create a totalitarian, unelected world government. Is this something you recognise? Are you – or have you ever been – a communist?

I've certainly never been a communist. [Laughs.] It doesn't mean that I don't look critically at all systems. The capitalist system has proved itself not able to deal with all of society's problems. In terms of socialism, yes, I've been accused of that. My belief is that the purpose of economic life is to meet the social needs of people.

My kids sometimes ask me: "Are you a socialist or a capitalist?" I'm a socialist only in the sense that I believe that the purpose of economic life is to meet the social needs of people. I'm a capitalist in that I believe that's the best way to do so. Capitalism is not an end in itself but a means of creating and managing wealth to help meet social objectives. To me some people define socialism as the ownership of enterprises by governments on behalf of society. Well, sometimes that is very necessary.

In Canada, we've never had a socialist government at the federal level, but we've had state corporations, or what we call crown corporations. There are times when every government has state involvement in the economy. In the US, take a look at the single biggest industry – the defence industry. It is very much state-controlled. I believe that the government is actually a very poor owner of enterprise. I've run enterprises in Canada that were owned by government and never believed that government was the best owner of enterprise.

Is the concept of a free market, given the environmental challenges we face, a dangerous concept for humanity?

It's not free and never has been. Just look at the level of subsidies that every government provides. Even today, governments continue to subsidise fossil fuels or other things that are environmentally counter-productive. The market economy has seldom ever been free and we've seen recently the dangers of an unregulated, unrestrained market economy. I think even those who believe in the market economy must accept that it produces some unwelcome by-products and economic winners and losers. It demonstrates that a totally free market economy simply isn't workable.

So an ever freer market is a wrong-headed goal in your view? And increased regulation is preferable?

Up to a point. There are extremes of regulation. There has to be a balance. The democratic system, in theory, permits this constant re-examination of this relationship between government and enterprise.

Given your understanding of China, what in your view is the better model in the decades ahead – the Chinese model or the Western model?

I don't think there is any perfect model anywhere. We know already that the US model is not working. With the bail-outs and takeovers some of the US's main companies are now controlled by the government. We know that pure capitalism hasn't worked. In China, they have used their system – which they call a socialist market economy – quite well to achieve their objectives. It's also in a continuous process of evolution. I've had a working relationship with China nearly all my adult life. I've seen the remarkable progress they've made and are still making. They're quick learners. They tend to be among the best in terms of business and industry. They have learned how to use the methods of capitalism to meet their own goals of socialism. China is among the best managed countries today. Not perfectly managed, of course

Where would you instinctively rather live? In China, or in the US or Canada?

I've spent a lot of time in China and, with my environmental interests, China is about as good a place to be at the moment. China was pretty slow at the beginning. [The environment] was a side issue compared to the economy. But China has now recognised that undermining the environment is one of the risks to development. They have become very environmentally minded.

After the Copenhagen summit there were lots of accusations that China had pulled the rug out from any agreement…

I was there, but didn't have any influence. That is a lame excuse for the West. China is actually doing more than most other countries in the world to reduce its emissions. For example, its automobile emissions standards are tighter than those of the United States. The problem is the economy is growing so fast. The Chinese will continue to do more on their own emissions than an international agreement asks them to do, but they are not prepared to do them under an international agreement unless and until those who created the problem in the first place, and brought us up to these thresholds of danger, are doing what they've got to do. China's position is very consistent.

What most people missed about Copenhagen was there was no agreement in prospect. But what it did do is underscore that China must be accorded the kind of political status that its economy now demands. It's interesting that the final statement at Copenhagen was a statement between two countries – China and the US. That in itself is very significant. China has its own internal dangers, of course, but it has never been one to take over its neighbours. It has boundary disputes. It could easily overrun its neighbours, but it doesn't do that and I don't think it is likely to. But China is on track to be the largest economy in the world and, with it, it has a growing political influence.

Does this please or displease you?

I would say neither of those things. It's a perfectly proper objective for it to pursue. It has already lifted more of its own people out of poverty than any other single nation. Whether it will work in the future, as it has done in recent times, I'm not sure, but I don't see any signs that China increasing its power is a great threat.

It sounds as if your heart and sympathies are more with China at the current time than with the West. Is that correct?

I wouldn't say that. I'm a westerner, but I believe that the rise of China is good. It's not a danger and it will be a benefit to create a little more balance in the world where it's not dominated by one country. The US will continue to be a major force in the world, and that's good, but it's not going to be exclusively dominant as it has been in the past. The rise of China, and others in Asia, means the centre of gravity in world geopolitics has now moved towards Asia. My sympathies are with the East to the extent that I believe that it's inevitable – and should be good – that the power structure of our world community is accommodating of the fact that Asia is the largest region in economic and population terms. I can see how it could go wrong, too, but Western leaderships haven't always provided the ideal world we all hoped for. We are still a minority in the west. We can't continue to have it all our own way.

One of the strongest criticisms that you face is that, because you have had a varied career involving business interests and roles at the UN, you somehow created the climate change issue to profiteer from your business interests via, say, cap-and-trade and the Chicago Climate Exchange. Or that it is all a Trojan horse for you to advance your political objectives. How to respond to this?

It shouldn't take anyone too long to understand that it would be pretty difficult for a single person to mount a conspiracy that involves most of the world's [climate] scientists and to get them all to join this conspiracy. I'm not a scientist, but I've been close to science and seen that scientists don't reach consensus very easily. There's a tremendous process of dialogue and differences. To see climate scientists reach the level of consensus that they have is a major thing and couldn't be the result of a conspiracy that one person could ever engineer.

And what about the idea that you are somehow profiteering from climate change? That it's a device for you to make money through cap-and-trade?

I was on an MIT panel on climate change in 1968, I think it was, before the Stockholm Conference. But I was lucky enough to have already made enough money from business at that time. It's true that I do get a modest fee from Chicago Climate Exchange, which I helped Richard Sandor to found, because I believe the cap-and-trade system, while not perfect, is one of the best ways to ensure that people have the incentive to reduce their emissions at the lowest cost. That's a long way from suggesting that I could invent the climate change issue to make profit. People call me very rich. I'm rich in experience, but most of my money has always been spent on the causes I'm interested in. No one should feel sorry for me for being poor, but I'm certainly not very rich.

You're painted as this billionaire figure who strides all these global institutions reaping profits from the so-called cap-and-trade "scam" and your interests in China. Do you just laugh this off?

Well, it's just not true. You can check my credit report and see that I'm credit worthy - but just barely [laughs] - and I've never been anywhere close to being a billionaire. Also, it's never been my main purpose in life. I have business interests, but they are pretty modest and I believe that business has to contribute to the solutions. To do that, they have to be profitable. If people think I shouldn't have ever made a living, then perhaps I should have just passed the hat around to keep my affairs going. But I think if you look at my business record you will see that not everything I have ever done has been successful, by any means, but I have fought to contribute to the solutions of these problems.

Will the BP disaster in the Gulf of Mexico help President Obama push through his climate-change legislation?

I don't have an inside track, but I think it could help and probably should help. But the oil industry has lobbyists and the power of money has tremendous influences. No other industry has more than the oil industry. It's a good industry and I was in it myself. I was jeered when I set up Canada's national oil company – Petro-Canada – because I made every proposal that came to management have to have an environmental assessment. People in the industry at that time laughed at it and that was another source of criticism for my crazy ideas. The oil industry is very important, but it, too, has its excesses and the BP disaster is demonstrating the tremendous consequences of its excesses. We have to move away from oil now – and are at the very early stages of doing so – not because the oil is running out, but because of the economic and environmental consequences.

Some of your critics claim that you are part of a shadowy elite who gather together and work out how to run the world. Your name has been linked to the Bilderberg Group, the Illuminati, and, with your connection to the Rothschilds on the record, the "Jewish banking conspiracy". What are your connections to these groups?

I have got lots of connections, but they're not among them. I've never been a member of the Bilderberg. I don't have any special relationship with the Rothschilds. I knew Edmund Rothschild at one stage. He's passed away now, but was a very creative fellow who took an interest in Canada. I don't think I've ever done a piece of business with the Rothschilds. I've been on various foundations: the Rockefeller Foundation, and I worked with Ted Turner in helping him to set up the UN Foundation. But I got off most of those things because I got a little older and attending all the formal meetings was difficult physically because I've had health problems. What was the other one?

Illuminati - a group that has its origins in 17th Century Bavaria and is said to be planning a new world government.

[Laughs] Well, I've certainly never had any contact with anyone from that organisation, or that I knew was connected to that group. Maybe someone I knew had a connection with it, but I certainly don't have any relationship with it. And I'm not in favour of a world government, as I've said. It's not even feasible. I do believe that governments have to work together. That's one of things that really concerns me about the future. I really do believe that our future is in doubt.

So are you pessimistic about the state of the world?

Analytically, I'm pessimistic. I believe the odds are against us for making the changes we need to make in time. But, operationally, I'm optimistic because I believe that it is still possible. Tougher the longer we delay it. That's why I'm trying all these things because I believe we should still be trying as long as it is still possible. My pessimism is based on whether I think we will actually make these changes. At the Rio Summit, which I ran, a group of enterprises prepared a report called "Changing Courses". These were not environmentalists, they were CEOs of major companies and they said our present industrial civilisation is not viable unless it changes course. That was back in 1992. The need to change the course – not to replace it with some communist system – on which we are now embarked was absolutely imperative way back then. Now we have more companies agreeing with us, but we also have more opposition. I do believe that we are at risk.

Your name is often associated with terms such as eugenics and population control. What is your definitive position on the human population? Do we need to radically reduce the number of people on this planet? If so, how?

There is no question that growth in the world population has increased the pressures on the Earth's resources and life-support systems. Now that doesn't mean that the Earth can't support this number of people. There are much more stringent and disciplined ways of supporting the increase in population. The increase in population is occurring today mostly in countries without the resources to look after these populations.

China's one-child policy is not a perfect policy by any means, but, on the other hand, how do you control growth in your population? China has done a remarkable job in increasing the well-being of one of the largest populations in the world, but it's not easy.

There's no question that if you look at the growth in population and the growth of the economy that the pressure on the environment and resources of the Earth have come not from the increase in population, but rather the impacts of the existing population.

All the people on the Earth aspire to a better life. If all of them enjoyed the same patterns of consumption that we in the West do, then we would have an unsustainable situation, and we're actually on the way to that now. We are in a situation that is unsustainable. In some of the densest city states, such as Singapore and Hong Kong, you see that it's possible to have a decent life, but only by reaching out to the rest of the world for supplies and support.

So they are financially successful, but they require a disproportionate share of the world's resources. On a global basis, that would inevitably create an unsustainable world.

So, with a global population approaching 7 billion and predicted to reach 9 billion by 2050, do we just let this rise happen, or, in the West, do we have to start thinking along China's lines by introducing rules and regulations about how many children people can have?

There is quite a lot of evidence to suggest that China's one-child policy hasn't been the only form of population control in that country. As the economy helps people in their lives, they tend to have fewer children.

So one child in the US, could equal the consumption levels of 10 children in Africa or India?

That's what I believe. It may be possible that the Earth can sustain a larger population, and seems inevitable with current trends, but it will require better constraint and discipline. It will be hard to enforce, therefore. The increase in population will create a huge dilemma and sources of conflict. For example, population growth in places like Europe used to be balanced by emigration, but today the borders of the world are closing and the pressures on Europe, for example, will grow. The combination of population growth and the growth in consumption is a danger that we are not prepared for and something we will need global cooperation on.

This is the toughest issue of all, surely. How do you go to someone - unless you live in a totalitarian government such as China's - and say to them that they must limit the number of children they have?

Nature will provide solutions much tougher than we could ever provide if we don't do something ourselves. Secondly, I was deputy minister in the Canadian government at a very young age and I made a speech in Canada in which I said that, with a growing global population, we will have to recognise that having children is not just a personal issue but a societal issue and at a certain point we may be faced with a need to have a permit to have a child. My minister was getting all sorts of calls from archbishops saying, "what is he saying?" I had to explain that I wasn't advocating this, just that this is what might happen if we don't find better ways of doing it. That was controversial and I've been used to controversy ever since. Over the years, I've also noticed that this is one way of getting attention. For example, you'd probably never heard of me if people weren't always attacking me. It is, perhaps, a peripheral benefit that the attacks call attention to the issue.

You don't lose sleep when Glenn Beck dedicates a show to attacking you?

You know what? I haven't actually seen that show. But we wouldn't be having this conversation if he hadn't attacked me. I'm never going to be immune from criticism. I've always had lots of it and the internet has given it a proliferation of dissemination. I don't respond to it all, but I listen to it. My family gets irritated by it, but it's something that's been part of my life for so long that at my age I'm philosophical. I concentrate on the positives such as being honoured with a professorship seven or eight times. I could just fade away and, at my age, to some degree I am, but I'm not going to fade away any more than I have to.

Barack Obama, Bill Gates, George Soros and the Human Rights Mob: 'The Main Obstacle to a Stable and Just World Order is the United States'

The Globalist Threat to America

By Barry Secrest, Charlotte Conservative Examiner
April 26, 2011

The international headline read: "IMF Warns that US lacks credible strategy for dealing with public debt." Doubtless, the article had been written after Obama's predictably inane deficit entrenchment/campaign renewal speech. And yet, we have the Democratic Disciples of Deficit still stubbornly insisting that spending is not the problem but rather it's how little we tax that's at issue, along with how little our Government invests in the economy, which is another way of saying "spend even more money," believe it or not, according to the Democrats.

Meanwhile, and in dire counterpoint, both small businesses and individuals are now gearing up and struggling to access dwindling credit lines and tattered savings accounts, from three prior years of economic dysfunction, in order to tragically fund their Government's spending largess for another year, as the wild beltway spending party intensifies.

While America, once again, collectively scratched its head, trying to figure out what exactly happened in the most recent, if not enigmatic, continuing resolution on spending, many of us were seeing things from a completely different angle. Some were observing how this particular scenario would play out and synchronize with what we have noticed throughout this ongoing season of darkside angst.

The point here being that many of us were not even a tittle disappointed in the final budgetary outcome, based upon our historical knowledge of what has gone before with the deceitfully diaphanous Obamaphibians.

Why were we not disappointed, one might ask? The beyond-depressing answer can be described as follows :

The Eeyore Paradigm
The attainment of measurable disappointment must be accompanied by at least some semblance of surpassing expectation.
Therefore, the Obama administration has yet to fail us in this particular regard. Now, however, our attention must turret to the current US debt ceiling, in yet another brave congressional foray at piddling away both our children's and their children's legacy.

The impending battle for America's mother-of-all credit card limits is looming, as we now stand at surpassing the astounding level of $14.3 trillion in bond debt. If we do not agree to exceed the current level--then America will be unable to borrow any further via the issuing of Treasury bonds and will then, technically, be required to limit spending so that it does not surpass revenue.

Now, when you hear the various politicos speaking on this particular subject, you will, in virtually every case, hear a collection of dire predictions and end-of-days scenarios contrived to scared the living hell out of us all, if we fail to raise the limit.

So, are their any reasonable left-wing voices warning us of why we should not increase the debt limit?

Indeed, there are, and not a moment to soon. These champions of America's past, present and future and avowed guardians of the people's treasure stood and forcefully let forth with these powerful words of wisdom:
The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies. … Leadership means that ‘the buck stops here.’ Instead, Washington is shifting the burden of bad choices today onto the backs of our children and grandchildren. America has a debt and a failure of leadership. Americans deserve better. I therefore intend to oppose the effort to increase America’s debt limit.
Bravo, Bravo! If only President Obama would listen, alas..... to his own words....yes, indeed.

In fact, Obama, in the 2006 quote stated above, actually excoriated the Bush administration for what they were doing to America's financial standing in the world.

The debt limit, at that time, being $9.6 trillion and nowhere near as tragically massive as it is at this moment, having risen 50% in an extraordinarily short span of time.

But what of any other words from our leaders against raising the debt limit? Were there any others? Oh, yes, and here again, another avowed liberal Democrat.

In this instance, it was none other than Harry Reid who said the following:
If my Republican friends think that increasing our debt by almost $ 800 billion dollars today and almost $ 3 trillion dollars over the last five years is the right thing to do, they should be up front about it. They should explain why they think that more debt is good for our economy. How can the Republican majority in this Congress explain how they think it's fair to force our children, our grandchildren and even our great grand-children to finance this debt through higher taxes~Senator Harry Reid, March 2006
My, my, now isn't that fascinating? So, why would raising the debt limit be woefully tragic, even though significantly lesser on the one hand, and yet be a thing that simply must happen at a later date, despite being magnitudinally larger by at least half, on the other?

We can all probably answer this particular question as it regards these two individuals, at least in part, based upon who is in meaningfully in power at the time, but what about the other part?

A Shadow Government

That other part belongs to the Shadow Government movement that has blossomed during the Obama administration.

As we continue to persevere through our ongoing theme of left-wing capitalism at apex, we can also see that our last words on the subject were reinforced and even spread to a much wider audience.
Bill O'Reilly Confirms Recent Conservative Refocus Opinion: Obama Wishes To Collapse/Remake American Economy (Video)
In The Rise Of Left-Wing Capitalism, we were able to prove Obama's ultimate feelings on capitalism and how, according to him, it has failed. We then went on to illustrate how the radical left wishes to eradicate free-market capitalism and remake America into something else altogether.

But the even deeper question that goes to the heart of America's predicament is both the how and the why along with the who. Who has the power, the influence and the ability to help the radical left bring down America, and how have they devised a means to meet that end, and why? (And why, by the way, has the writing of these particular articles met with all sorts of nearly comical interruptions, strange happenings, and unfortunate interludes of odd goings-on, probably just me...)

Meet Darth Soros

The one particularly powerful anti-individual with a Globalist agenda who wants to see America taken down is global financier George Soros, the left-wing capitalist who brought down the Bank of England, along with a number of other nations in various multifarious ways.

When asked why Soros feels that America needs to be taken down, Soros will tell you that his reasons are ones which are global in nature

Soros actually states that:
"The main obstacle to a stable and just world order is the United States."
Soros bemoanedly believes that America "sets the agenda for the world" and the world must respond to that agenda, and that this is beyond bad for the Globalists among our international community, and therefore, all of us, according to Soros.

Interestingly, this viewpoint seems to fit right in with both Obama and Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner's views, who have repeatedly stated that America can no longer be the "engine of the world's economies."

Secretary Geithner even recently stated that America was "open" to considering the possibility of replacing the dollar as the world reserve currency.

Soros Attacks The US War On Terror

Regarding the saga of George Soros, however, it actually gets far worse.

Soros has even stated that the US war on terrorism was a "wrongful decision" because of the "innocent victims." The other side of this argument, which Soros fails to apparently consider, are the millions of innocent victims who suffer as a very real and very direct result of world-wide terrorism. Terrorism, which is primarily perpetrated by radical Islamists, certainly never have any innocent victims, now do they? Soros, dare we leave out, also despised George W. Bush and waged a near-victory in defeating Bush on his second successful term run.

Perhaps Soros, being far more cunning even than he seems, doesn't actually feel sorry for these innocent victims of the US attack on terrorism and, one then presupposes, the un-innocent victims of Islamic terrorism. Rather, Soros deftly twists the range of human emotion back in on itself in order to motivate his army of emotionally contrived "useful idiots" who then wreak havoc within the media.

But, beyond the obvious funding of Soros' impressive wealth to mainstream left-wing groups, many have wondered exactly how Soros manages to impassion so many followers?

The answer to that question is beyond simple enough.

Soros has funded hundreds of these left-wing organizations and websites, reaching into the $ 100's of millions, in order to further a political backing that delightedly rages against both Conservatives and right-of-center media organizations.

Fox News has most recently been the focus of his targeting, which ultimately resulted in Soros' main media nemesis, Glenn Beck, being eliminated from his position. Glenn Beck had been instrumental, at Fox, in teaching America the exquisite details behind Soros--along with his goals. In fact, Beck once met with one or more of Soros' henchmen so that they could relay the fact that they were very unhappy with him. No wonder Beck's hair turned white seemingly in a span of months....has anyone else noticed that particular fact?

Soros Admits To Messianic Fantasies

Regardless, the other side of Soros' darkside appeal, most likely, flows from the force of his power throughout the world, but also from Soros' seemingly genteel second nature.

Soros, in many circles, is thought of as a left-wing Guru who considers himself to be a philosopher and Elitist world class philanthropist. Soros is, in fact, an atheist who has even had problems with feelings of self-described potent Messianic fantasies, which have gotten him into trouble from time to time. Indeed, we are not surprised, would be our response.

An atheist with Messianic tendencies? How might that happen?

Enter Soros' childhood, where as a young boy George Schwartz was adopted by one of Hitler's henchmen, and during what Soros has described as "one of the happiest and most fulfilling times of my life," assisted the Nazi's in seizing the property of Jews in Hungary, most of whom were put to death in Hitler's concentration camps.

In fact, Soros takes great glee and satisfaction from his work at bringing darkness to other nations and finds that it fuels his insane notion that he might be the Messiah, and an evil one at that. When asked about his role in various financial crisis' this is what he stated:
The World Financial crisis was stimulating and, in a way, a culmination of my life's work.
Now, that's just spooky, but if we pause for a moment and allow all of the pieces to flow and interact with one another, we can begin to see a certain pattern settling into focus. We can also begin to see the problems with Soros' particular range of thinking, along with a whole other agenda as perpetrated by Obama and the Democrats, which insidiously moves America into the path of financial ruin.

We have also seen how the Saul Alinsky-trained, Obama, has ratcheted up US spending to unprecedented levels, while Washington appears under near-total control by the free-spending Democrats, many of whom are also under Soros' control in a movement born under the auspices of global redistribution.

The Connection Of Two, Master and Apprentice

So, as we begin to weave the threads of complicity together, we now look at the connection between one man who wants to bring down the United States in Soros, and the other who actually now leads the United States, in Barack Hussein Obama.
  • The first official association for Soros and Obama came in 2004, when Soros hosted a fundraiser in Obama's successful 2004 Senate Campaign.

  • Later, during Obama's Senatorial run, and due to the millionaires rule involving candidates running against millionaires, Soros was able to fund Obama's Senate campaign to the tune of over $60,000, not including funds tapped from Soros' 527 non-profit organizations, such as Moveon.org.

  • Later, according to most published accounts, the two officially first met in 2006 at Soros' New York office, when Obama began exploring the possibilities of a Presidential run.

  • On January 16, 2007, Obama announced a presidential exploratory committee where Soros immediately donated the campaign maximum of $2,100.

  • Also in 2007, Soros reportedly dropped his support of Hillary Clinton for President.

  • Only a few days after Obama's November 2008 election, Soros indicated in an interview: "I think we need a large US stimulus package which will provide funds for state and local governments to maintain their budgets." Soros also indicated, "For such a program to be successful, the Federal Government would need to provide hundreds of billions of dollars."

  • Soros has, since the beginnings of the Obama Administration, visited the White House on five separate occasions.

One undated visit by Soros (date unknown)

* To avoid public knowledge, Obama began holding meetings near the White House for lobbyists and other controversial visits, circumventing documented White House visit requirements.

The connections between the anti-American Soros and un-President Obama being undeniable, what does this then all mean?

Well, we should look to at least one other major point that few if any have brought up.

In 1992, George Soros made his first billion by successfully shorting or hedging the British Pound with leveraged billions in financial bets. He became known, from this particular exploit, as being the man who broke the British pound. Kyle-Anne Shiver, in American Thinker, wrote:
"He broke it (the British Pound) on the backs of hard-working British citizens who immediately saw their homes devalued and their life-savings cut drastically short, almost overnight."
Now, does this remind you of anything that occurred here in the US, say...in late 2008, on the eve of Obama's presidential election?

Wasn't that just a smashing bit of luck for Obama to have one of the worst financial disasters in American history to occur within a few weeks of his election and under the presidential tutelage of the opposing party he was trying to defeat? Are there, indeed, any coincidences? Did Soros and the Globalists have anything to do with the trillions that were lost by the US Treasury?

As a Globalist, Soros believes in his dark mentor, Economist Karl Popper's teachings of Fallibalism and the open society

Open Society believes in a test and evaluate methodology of social engineering (read Socialism), while Fallibilism believes that "all claims of knowledge could essentially be wrong," which means, in essence, a belief in metaphysical nothingness.

This belief in fallibilism, to many, might back up Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohammad's assertion, who called Soros "a villain and a moron."

In contrast, Thai activist Wen Tojirakarn states that the Thai view Soros as "a kind of Dracula," and remember, this is one of Obama's chief contributors.

Few across the world of nations, from the Russian satellite countries to many Asian countries, to even Greece, have little if anything good to say of George Soros.

In retrospect, when we look at Obama's other professional associations and friendships and then factor in the media's lack of reporting during the presidential campaign and divide by Soros' menacing mega-media silhouette, everything becomes startlingly clear.

The Globalist's main goal is to have one centralized powerful governing body over one world.

Make no mistake, all religious parallels aside, the Globalist's desire is to engineer and control both trade and humanity the world over.

There is one major factor that stands in the way of that goal.

In order to retain the authority and the power of a one-world globalist society, there can be only one major power. The United States economically, militarily and ideologically stands fully in the way of the globalists' centralized, inhumane goal. What better way to take Her down softly, while whispering sweet hope and change in Her ear than the way in which we are seeing at present.

The Dreaded Obamasoros

While America teeters on the brink of an insolvency that at least one of Obama's chief benefactors, George Soros, states he both wants and desires, and then when we factor in Obama's statements and feelings on Capitalism and how it doesn't work--along with his socialist proclivities on redistribution and big Government--it becomes quite plain to see that America is under some very dark and imminently powerful influences.

Interestingly, as an ominous, coincidental chord to this column, one of the largest financial rating Companies in the world published a revision concerning the United States and its public debt.

Standard and Poors, on the eve of this column being published, changed the US AAA bond rating outlook to 'Negative' based upon the President and Government's refusal to meaningfully deal with the US public debt problem. Obama's response, being cognizant that both he and Soros' insidious game of ruining the US free-market economy might be in peril, stated the following:
Standard and Poor's negative outlook underestimates the country's ability to face financial challenges.'
Indeed, it is not the country's ability that is being questioned Mr. Obama, it is your goals that are being questioned.

The one thing that the congressional Republicans, the few remaining actual Democrats, and the American people should remember is that with these infernal aims and nefarious associations, and with all of the wasted upheaval that America has seen over these last few years, America should be doing the exact opposite of essentially everything that Her President wants and desires.

But only if our Constitutional Republic, in its current form, is to survive and prosper.
Yesterday, I held a fiscal summit in which I promised to cut the US deficit in half by the end of my first term in office~President Barack Obama, 2/24/09 joint session of Congress
Still waiting Mr. President...

Maurice Strong Uses Bill Gates of Microsoft to Funnel Money for America’s Destruction

The world’s second richest man, worth some $44 billion, gave 85% of his wealth in July of 2006 to the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. The lion’s share of the Gates foundation goes into United Nations sanctioned projects. Make that the fomenting for One World Government anti-American United Nations.

Political Vel Craft
June 7, 2010

Rothschild, Rockefeller, Maurice Strong, Al Gore, Goldman Sachs, Bill Gates, Mayor Daley, William Ayers, Saul Alinsky, Saudi Arabia, China and the United Nations equals Barak Obama.

When we look at what has happened to the American dream, the American Constitution, the American economy in the past 12 months, it seems that there is a deliberate plan to completely destroy the entire American way of life and even the country as we know it.

When you look at the national debt, the bail outs of the banks, the fake stimulus bill, the health care bill, the coming cap and trade, the loss of jobs at the same time government workers have increased wages by 100% and more, and the exposed lies about Global Warming and Obama’s birth and mother, we can only conclude it is a master plan to destroy America.

But I have had a problem finding out who is behind all these obvious changes, which are against the will of the people. In order to trace “why” and “father” of these problems, I have had to go back 50 years to find the organization and man behind all this and the front man behind Barak Obama.

His name is Maurice Strong, born in Canada, lived in New York, and now exiled in China, but still the power behind Obama and the liberal House and Senate of America.

George Soros and his Canadian sidekick, Kyoto architect Maurice Strong, are the brains behind the likes of Al Gore, Mikhail Gorbachev and Barak Obama, all who belong to the above and the “Chicago Climate Exchange” which will make billions on climate change.

Barrack Hussein Obama is the one out in front talking about “Change we can believe in”, but the senator from Illinois is only the latest puppet.

We already know from the Internet that Soros has gone a long way to bankroll Obama’s campaign, but not so well known is that Soros worked in conjunction with Maurice Strong to saturate the American automobile market with the China-produced Chery.
“Like the bad guys in a spy movie, Soros and Strong teamed up on the Chery, a sort of poor man’s made-in-China vehicle, with which they hope to flood the U.S. market next year.”
Strong has been saying all along that China would someday soon replace the U.S. as world economic leader.

Described in countless media write-ups as a cross between the Wizard of Oz and Dr. No, the Canadian oil billionaire was the Secretary General of the 1992 UN Conference on the environment and Development in Rio de Janeiro where the unveiling of Agenda 21 took place and subtly began to change the world as the rest of us know it.

With little media monitoring, Strong and Gore are cashing in on the lucrative cottage industry known as man-made global warming.

Strong is on the board of directors of the Chicago Climate Exchange, described as “the world’s first and North America’s only legally binding greenhouse gas emission registry reduction system for emission sources and offset projects in North America and Brazil.”

Gore buys his carbon off-sets from himself—the Generation Investment Management LLP [GIM], “an independent, private, owner-managed partnership established in 2004 with offices in London and Washington, D.C.”, of which he is both chairman and founding partner.
“In order to save the planet, the group [GIM] decides: Isn’t the only hope for the planet that the industrialized civilizations collapse? Isn’t it our responsibility to bring this about? This group of world leaders [GIM] forms a secret society to bring about an economic collapse,” Strong told the reporter in painting his so-called fantasy scenario.
It’s February. They’re all at Davos. These aren’t terrorists. They’re world leaders. They have positioned themselves in the world’s commodities and stock markets. They’ve engineered, using their access to stock markets and computers and gold supplies, a panic. Then, they prevent the world’s stock markets from closing. They jam the gears. They hire mercenaries who hold the rest of the world leaders at Davos as hostage. The markets can’t close…

Two weeks ago, financial analyst Jim Rogers said the bailout of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac made America more communist than China!
This is welfare for the rich,” he said. This is socialism for the rich. It’s bailing out the financiers, the banks, the Wall Streeters… Even ex-president Putin, just today, said as Russia rid itself of Marxism, America is embracing it.
As Henry Ford once said:
“It is well enough that people of the nation do not understand our banking and monetary system, for if they did, I believe there would be a revolution before tomorrow morning. The one aim of these financiers is world control by the creation of inextinguishable debt.”
Welcome to One World Government. Not only has it slipped in through the back door, it is right here about to keep you awake at night.

'Black Water Wants to Go into Somalia'

Max Keiser of Press TV interviews Thomas Mountain regarding the US support of conflicts in Africa and how the US is funding the Ethiopian President to invade Somalia. (Full Length Video of Interview)

Press TV
December 19, 2010

As tension in Somalia continues to escalate, the US banking institutions and corporations seem to reap the benefits by destroying any stability and sovereignty through creating conflicts.

Press TV: Welcome to On the Edge coming from sunny downtown Tehran, Iran. Let's talk with Thomas C. Mountain. Thomas is an independent journalist living in Eretria and writes often on the Horn of Africa. Thomas, welcome to the Edge.

Mountain: Thanks Max, it's nice to be back.

Keiser: Thomas C. Mountain, you are an expert on the Horn of Africa. So what are your thoughts on the recent WikiLeaks cable gate revelations that the US essentially hired Ethiopian President Meles Zenawi to invade Somalia in 2006.

Mountain: Well, I haven't really had a chance to review all 1300 some documents. But it's pretty much common knowledge that Meles was sent in. And I don't think he was too happy about it because in history no Ethiopian regime has ever picked a fight with the Somalis. There was a war between Somalia and Ethiopia in 1977, but that was started by the Somalis so I don't think any Ethiopian President in his right mind would volunteer to start a war with Somalia. I think he was pretty much pressured by his masters who pay his salary and military budget in the United States.

Press TV: Right, well this is what we are seeing with these WikiLeaks revelations is the US just basically interfering all over the world extra legally with no due process, no consideration for the law, and no consideration for human rights or civil rights, and they are just making a mess wherever they go. The cables also show Black Water pitching in to get involved in Somalia. What's the empire's interest in Somalia? Do they have any oil?

Mountain: Well, yes there is suppose to be a lot of oil and gas. But I think it's more of a… just in general Americans' foreign policy particularly in regards to Africa, is what we call “crisis management.” They want to instigate a crisis and then manage the crisis. Thus they can basically prevent a strong nationalist government from coming to power that would protect the people's interest and force the Western governments to pay a fair share in their natural resources. Basically they just want to be able to come in and pay off some war lords and rape and loot the resources of a country whenever possible. I think that is pretty much US policy in Somalia.

They know that if a genuine nationalist government comes to power in Somalia, they are going to be pretty hostile to Western interests and especially the United States, because the US has committed a long list of very nasty crimes in Somalia. So they just want to see the war lords in power and when the Union of Islamic Courts came to power, it brought peace to Mogadishu for the first time and in 2006 Americans sent the Ethiopian gendarmes in to destroy that peace. So I don't think the US has any good intentions toward Somalia at all.

Press TV: Tell me something about Somalia. You can help me pick through this whether it's non-sense or not. I heard in Somalia Coca-Cola has these huge tankers parked outside that are filled with coke syrup. It's the largest distribution point for coke syrup and effectively coke syrup is the currency of Somalia. Is that crazy or somewhere near accurate?

Mountain: That's the first time I've heard of that. The Somali pirates have, of course, collected about 500 million dollars or more hijacking ships. There has been a lot of talk about them trying to defend their fishing rights and other things. But the bottom line is you have a lot of ships presently hijacked in Somalia, and the pirates there are basically working for the war lords. When the pirates capture a ship they have to pay off the local war lord, and they have to pay off the district war lord. They have to pay off the presidential war lord. They have to pay off the Ethiopian military and of course they have to pay off Meles Zenawi in Addis Ababa. In exchange for that they get protection. The Ethiopian regime is the US policeman. They pretty much told the United States and all the Western countries to lay off the Somalia pirates because they are paying protection money and that explains why there hasn't been a single cruise missile come whistling to the doors of any of these pirates' lairs after they have collected their loot. That is something nobody in the Western media wants to talk about. How come there has been zero retaliation against these pirates. The Americans have bombed…

Press TV: How much did you say? 500mn you say?

Mountain: Over 500mn yes.

Press TV: So essentially the American pirates, the Wall Street Banks are somehow involved in taking a cut of that and it's easy money for them. And of course you would never go in and disrupt easy money. There is stock exchange that has sprung up around the piracy that's going on. Real estate prices are exploding. So it's like the Hamptons. You've got the crooks and the pirates on Wall Street and the real estate market in the Hamptons goes up.

Here in Somalia you have pirates out there 500mn or so looting and the real estate market around that area goes up. You've got the same crooks, the same financial terrorists, the overlords: J.P Morgan, Goldman Sachs, Bank of America, Wells Fargo, Warren Buffett etc.. in their taking a cut. Now what is the mechanism for them to take the cut? I mean it's not the IMF. They are not the intermediary disruptive terrorist force. It's not the World Bank. What is the intermediary force that holds the bag; the bag man for the Wall Street Banks in Somalia?

Mountain: Well, the American foreign policy is based on using a local policeman. Most of the money ends up in Meles Zenawi's pocket. He has his warlords in Puntland where most of the pirates come from. Puntland is located right on the very tip of the horn of Africa. So there is a payoff that starts out with some desperados going off in small boats by snatching these ships and collecting cash. They land on the beach and often they head right for the nearest Ethiopian military base. They make their payoff and make sure that no one comes in and bombs them in their homes. So in any case Meles Zenawi is the bag man.

Press TV: Who is the banking facility here? Is it the Swiss Banks? I heard that have a huge money laundering operation in Tel Aviv now picking up the slack from Switzerland. Where is the main money laundering going on for this particular global scam?

Mountain: You know Ethiopia is in the center of a major aid-to-arms diversion scandal. It's something like 6 billion dollars a year according to the latest reports I've seen is funneled to the Meles Zenawi regime to keep him in power there and enforce the interest of the IMF and the World Bank in that part of the world. So I think it's pretty much they pay off Meles Zenawi, and then he does what they want him to like invade Somalia.

Right now Meles Zenawi is carrying out genocide in the Ogaden and its escalating into a full blown genocide where he is rounding up tens of thousands of ethnic Somalis in Ethiopian Ogaden and putting them into basically starvation camps. The expression is if you can't catch the fish (meaning the Ogaden rebels) you drain the lake. That is what he's doing. He is accelerating the Ogaden genocide and the purpose of all that is to just basically keep Meles Zenawi in power. So he can protect imperial American interests in the Horn of Africa, which is one of the most strategic areas in the world.

All the trade between Asia and Europe passes through the Horn of Africa every day. So the Americans have gotten Meles Zenawi there protecting the banks' interests, and protecting the financial terrorists, and he's the guy that has the huge bank accounts in London with hundreds of millions of dollars. This has been going on for decades now.

Press TV: So, Meles Zenawi is going through London not Switzerland and Tel Aviv. Six billion dollars a year in arms deals, as off course arms dealing are America's huge money laundering operation globally. That is a trillion dollars of tax money collected from those poor smocks in America every year that goes to the IRS and ends up in the Pentagon, and goes for buying guns for terrorists around the world like this fellow Meles Zenawi who is using billions of dollars in arms deals to launder the money he is stealing via the Somali pirates.

I tell you he should just go public on the New York Stock Exchange and would get a better evaluation. He could be like the Google of piracy. He could be worth 200bn than just 20bn dollars.

Anyway let's move on. Black Water now known as Z, let's talk about their involvement a little bit more. Are they visible? Do they wear big branded uniforms like Black Water Z mercenaries for hire or are they more underground?

Mountain: Well, I don't think even Black Water wants to go into Somalia. They have been using Ugandan proxies and other proxies in Mogadishu to try and pop up this puppet regime that they claim is the government of Somalia. What they have been doing, these that got the blessing of the United Nations under the African Union, is every time the gorilla fighters attack them successfully in frustration they fire artillery rounds into the surrounding civilian neighborhoods. Most people don't realize when you hear of death reports in Mogadishu almost all of that is caused by mortar and artillery rounds fired by the United Nation blessed African Union troops. So there's probably been tens of thousands of Somalia's killed by the United Nations and African Union troops in Somalia who they have the gall to call peace keepers.

Press TV: Alright, Thomas Mountain you live in Africa where missionaries and charities have operated for centuries as the unarmed wing of the empire. Tell us about the Human Rights mob. Who are they? What do they call themselves a mob?

Mountain: Well, I have labeled them the Human Rights mob because George Soros is the financial hit man. He has just given 1bn dollars over the next ten years in a matching grant to Human Rights Watch. Now this is a matching grant meaning through other foundations and trusts, which George Soros has laundered donations through the likes of human rights watch and Amnesty International for years now. He will give them another billion dollars. So Human Rights Watch is about to collect 2bn dollars in the next ten years from George the hit man Soros.

Now what's Human Rights Watch going to do with this? George Soros got on national public radio in the United States and said we are going to expand Human Rights watch into the developing world. We are going to have offices of Human Rights Watch basically gathering intelligence and influencing American government policy in the developing world as much as possible towards policies that favor George Soros. Now why do we call George Soros the hit man?

Well, a good example was the Rose Revolution in Georgia when George Soros put over 42mn dollars in through his NGO funds into supporting the Saakashvili regime. Now 42mn dollars is almost ten dollars per person in Georgia. That would be like if in the United States George Soros spent 3bn dollars on the American election putting Barack Obama into power. And what did he do? As soon as Saakashvili came to power, he started arresting the opposition, starting torturing opposition members, and opposition members starting disappearing and on top of that Saakashvili had his military attack the South Ossetians who he claims are his own people opening artillery fire on civilian communities. What kind of massacre would have happened if the Russians hadn't counter attacked and driven him out?

All this was paid for by George Soros putting Saakashvili in power. This is blood money now. These NGOS that put Saakashvili into power with 42mn dollars have got blood stains on their hands. The Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International kept their mouths shut when all this happened. They are quick to jump out and condemn Eretria for alleged human rights abuses, which are pretty much non-existent. Yet they are very quiet when it comes to a program that George Soros is funding.

So I call them the Human Rights Mob. They are taken the hit man's money, and they are attacking countries like Eretria which are doing a lot of things to promote human rights like provide clean drinking water for the people, make sure everybody is fed and they have a roof over their head, and people have decent medical care. These are really the basic human rights. Not freedom of assembly, freedom of speech and freedom of elections, which is what Human Rights Watch and Amnesty claim so loudly about.

You know the fact is the Human Rights movement has been bought off by a financial terrorist like George Soros to the tune of 2bn dollars.
It's an incredible amount of money in ten years. What are they going to do with it? We know what they are going to do with it. They are going to go and be a front for Soros in the 3rd world and developing world.

Press TV: Thomas Mountain, did you read the alchemy of finance, George Soros' masterpiece where he explains reflexivity, which basically says if you manipulate the price of a market enough it will become the new normal, and then you can cash in on your manipulation, and so oh it was the market and not me.

Mountain: I'll have to read that Max. Thanks for the tip.

Press TV: Yes, it's a how to guide on how to manipulate markets. Just to be clear, the Human Rights Mob is a label you have given these groups. You are saying they are basically taking the money from Soros who has vested interest in manipulating these markets, and claiming to be somehow a man interested in furthering human rights when in fact he is only interested in furthering his network. He is not really doing well on either side as a hedge fund manager or as a human rights philanthropist….

Anyway, let's move on to another one of these global, globe-trotting good-doers that seems to do bad more than good such as Bill Gates, multi-billionaire, founder of Microsoft. You write, “Bill Gates, 10bn dollar vaccine scam.” I take it you don't find his charitable work in Africa very charitable Thomas Mountain.

Mountain: I'll give you an example. I live in Eritrea, which has reduced malaria mortality in the last eight years by almost 85%. Malaria is the number one killer in Africa and this has been the biggest breakthrough in history in fighting malaria mortality. And it's not a medicine-based program, it's a public health-based program providing insect treated mosquito nets and making sure they get retreated, making sure that their clinics are within a couple of hours walk from all the villages in the malaria belt, and through this basic public health Eritrea has made the biggest breakthrough in malaria treatment in history.

Now, Bill Gates has turned around and donated, well it's actually a tax-write off; my sources say over a billion dollars to develop a “vaccine for malaria.” People that know malaria know that it's a very resistant, very quickly developed resistance to drugs and that in five years after the latest vaccine comes out it won't work anymore, but by then its patent will have expired and Africa will have to buy a new vaccine. And every five years, a new vaccine and tens of billions of dollars of African blood money will get sucked out of Africa to pay for these latest vaccines and the fact is that Bill Gates has got tens of billions of dollars invested in the major pharmaceutical companies.

So this donation, which is actually a tax-write off, is going to end up bring back tens of billions of dollars, if Bill Gates has his way, back into the pockets of the major international pharmaceutical companies and it will pay off ten times or more on what Bill Gates has donated to this fight.

Now, the World Health Organization (WHO), which recently has been exposed for being a front for the major pharmaceuticals when it raised a big hysteria about the swine flu. For example, France had to destroy 350 million Euros of vaccine, which the WHO said they had to buy and what they've done basically is come in and suppress news about this big breakthrough in malaria mortality in Eritrea because it's public health based, not pharmaceutical-based.

So tens of millions of lives could be saved if the rest of Africa and the rest of the world will emulate and copy and use Eritrea's role model to prevent malaria deaths, instead they're suppressing knowledge of this.

Press TV: Well, Bill Gates is a twice convicted predatory monopolist in the area of intellectual property so it makes sense that his solution to a problem would be to increase and expand more intellectual property that comes under the rubric of those laws that is a known economic fallacy and drainer of economies not a value added to economies.

Let's move on to 'land grab' that is going on in many nations such as Saudi Arabia and China and many hedge funds including George Soros is buying lands in Africa -- I take it this is just more of the same?

Mountain: Well there is some international companies and governments coming into Ethiopia and buying up some of the prime agricultural land. Of course, tens of millions of people in Ethiopia are literally starving or on the verge of starvation and yet some of the prime agricultural land is being sold or leased for 99 years to countries like Saudi Arabia, which exported something like 10,000 tons of rice from Ethiopia last year while millions of Ethiopians are literally starving to death.

Of course, several million of dollars of everyone of these deals gets put into Mili Sonali's London bank accounts, but that's a pretty good example of how when you get a gangster like Mili Sonali in power, he doesn't care what happened to his own people.

Press TV: Let's talk about China, is it a positive or a negative, their influence going on there?

Mountain: I think China overall has been quite positive. I'll give you an example in Sudan -- Sudan is the largest and potentially richest country in Africa and the west, the US in particular, wants to see Sudan divided because law in Sudan is under the leadership of Bashir (President Omar al-Bashir) who they claim is a genocidal killer when the facts on the ground is that Darfur relief effort is one of the largest best run relief efforts in history and that without the support and leadership of Bashir, it would not have been successful. So actually there never was genocide in Sudan.

Press TV: There was never genocide in Sudan? Explain that to me a little more, this could be news to George Clooney and some celebrities in LA -- What do you mean by that?

Mountain: I was one of the first westerners to write about the problems in Sudan in 2003. The problems in Darfur were mainly a civil war that took place in 2004 and some part of 2005 and maybe 30,000 people died. Now that 's a big tragedy, but the relief effort started then and international forces along with Sudan security forces came in and pretty much stopped all the violence by 2006; so maybe 30,000 people died in Sudan -- that was way back in 2004/2005. And since then, the people of Darfur, the victims of this violence have been the recipients of one of the largest best run relief efforts in history. The UN people, the Aid people on the ground in Sudan will tell you that this very successful relief effort would not have been possible without the cooperation and support of president Bashir and his government.

So there hasn't been genocide in Sudan, instead the genocide, which you Max were the first international news program to cover is the genocide in the Ogaden, which by the way Max puts you on the edge because the real genocide is being funded by the west in the Ogaden in Ethiopia.
It never happened in Sudan; that was all a big scam to brainwash everybody and say hey, we need to send troops in to protect the genocide victims, so the west can come in and take over the largest and potentially wealthiest country in Africa.

Press TV: Following up on this note that we broke the story on The Edge -- Is there one thing that the mainstream media is not covering right now that we can break for our global audience today?

Mountain: Well I was just talking about this breakthrough in malaria and malaria mortality prevention in Eritrea -- that's a big story, but the Ogaden genocide is starting to accelerate. When you broke the story earlier this year it was a low level genocide. Now it's accelerating with the development where they're starting to put together these starvation camps -- rounding up the Ogaden people into these camps. They've kicked all the western aid agencies out of the Ogaden; Mili Sonali has, including Doctors without Borders and the Red Cross. And now they're rounding the people up and they're basically going to starve them to death in these camps and we're talking about 10, 12, 15 million potential victims and this is all being paid for by western tax dollars.

So I think this Ogden genocide is probably the biggest news story that's starting to accelerate and that the west is not talking about and it was first broken here on your program, Max.
