The Other American Sniper: Adan Castañeda's Delusions Only Got Worse After a Revolving Door of Treatment and Release at the VA

Adan Castañeda was arrested May 27, 2011, after firing 23 bullets into his parents' home in the Texas Hill Country. On the capital murder and tampering-with-evidence charges, State District Court Judge Dib Waldrip declared Castañeda not guilty. Castañeda was declared not guilty by reason of insanity on charges of aggravated assault, deadly conduct and criminal mischief.

Maria Esparza awoke to what she thought was the sound of her husband cooking -- the hiss and pop of fresh vegetables dropped into a pan of hot oil. Reality set in when Roy Esparza told her to keep her head down as bullets cracked and whizzed through their two-story home in the Texas Hill Country.
"There's something going on," he told her. "I think it's your son."
Roy dialed 911 and reached a Comal County dispatcher just before 4 a.m. on May 27, 2011. Somebody had just sprayed the house with bullets, he told the dispatcher, who told him to stay put inside. The dispatcher asked if anyone had recently threatened them. "Yes, our son," Roy said before hesitating.
"I don't know...I don't want to say it was him. He's paranoid schizophrenic. He's been diagnosed. He came from Iraq."
Roy handed the phone to his wife, who gave the dispatcher a stripped-down version of Adan Castañeda's steep mental decline since he'd returned from war three years earlier. Sounding more exhausted than frightened, Maria told the officer her 25-year-old son had been in and out of psychiatric treatment. He's mentally ill, she said. She told the dispatcher about the bizarre text messages she'd received from Castañeda that had only grown more violent and disturbing in recent weeks.

He's been to the local U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs hospital -- many times, she stressed -- but they won't keep him.

Deputies quickly found Castañeda wandering a dark stretch of road less than a mile from the house. His gait was sluggish. Playback of the police dash-cam video looks as if it's in slow motion.

One deputy muttered "Oh, shit" into his radio when Castañeda reached his right hand into his waistband, pulling out a .45 caliber Glock pistol. Holding it at his side, Castañeda sounded confused during the standoff.

First he told deputies he was just wielding a paintball gun, then a BB gun. "I'm not going to hurt anyone," he said in a low monotone, before grabbing the gun by the barrel with the palm of his hand, throwing it overhand into the nearby trees. Officers eventually discovered the gun some 25 yards away.

The deputies remembered Castañeda. Nearly two years before, some of them had been called out to a standoff inside his parents' home. Castañeda tore through the house, ripping out cabinets, shattering windows and smashing television screens. All because his parents took away his gun after he threatened to kill himself.

After that July 2009 blowup, Castañeda was sent to his first commitment at the Audie L. Murphy Memorial VA Hospital's psychiatric ward in San Antonio, beginning what would become a revolving door of treatment and release. Castañeda would be committed to the psych ward at least two more times. He tried to check himself in on another occasion. Weeks before he peppered his parents' house with bullets, his mother tried to get doctors to commit him once more; they said they couldn't take him.

While it remains unclear exactly why the VA was either unable or unwilling to offer Castañeda and his family more help (a VA spokesperson's only response to questions from the Houston Press was, "We are not conducting interviews at this time"), his case bears an uneasy resemblance to that of another troubled veteran whose violent breakdown dominated national headlines last month. On February 24, an Erath County jury sentenced Marine Corps veteran Eddie Ray Routh to life in prison for brutally killing famed Navy SEAL "American Sniper" Chris Kyle and his friend, Chad Littlefield. By all accounts, both Castañeda's and Routh's families sought help through their local VA hospitals -- Castañeda in San Antonio, Routh in Dallas -- but were turned away days before their psychotic delusions reached their ultimate, violent breaking points.

The cases are dramatic examples of how war, mental illness and an overwhelmed VA can intersect with the criminal justice system. It's unclear how many veterans are currently incarcerated, but the most recent survey, done by the Bureau of Justice Statistics in 2004, found that nearly one in every ten inmates in American jails had prior military service. Those veterans, the survey found, were more likely than nonvets to have been treated for mental health problems before their run-ins with the law.

Last month, on the same week and in the same state, attorneys for Castañeda and Routh argued their clients were insane when they committed their crimes and were therefore better candidates for treatment than for prison. Only Castañeda prevailed. In court, he grew visibly agitated, wanting desperately to take the stand, to persuade a judge he was simply defending himself against evils that existed only in his head.

The night Castañeda sent bullets flying through his parents' house, the responding deputies sound rattled on the radio call log. "I'm almost to the point where I'm second-guessing, why didn't I shoot?" one says.
He looks like that Marine we've seen before, one of the deputies says as Castañeda's taken into custody. "He won't talk...He's got like a freaking blank stare."

After high school, Castañeda joined the U.S. Marine Corps and in 2007 deployed to Iraq with the 2nd Battalion 5th Marines Scout Sniper Platoon.

Adan Castañeda was born in the South Texas city of Edinburg, less than 20 miles from the Mexico border. Back then, his mother, Maria Esparza, was married to someone she calls "an abusive man, a pedophile" who sexually assaulted Castañeda.

When he was about four years old, Castañeda's mother fled with her children to the Texas Hill Country north of San Antonio. By the time Castañeda was eight years old, his mother had married Roy Esparza, her current husband. Things were relatively calm until Castañeda's brother, Alonzo Garza, who was three years his junior, entered middle school. Teachers caught Alonzo bringing pot to school. He once stole a golf cart from a local store, taking it for a joyride in the woods. Maria got worried when school officials began to wonder whether Castañeda, too, was a problem child.

The summer before his senior year, Maria sent Castañeda to a summer camp at the Marine Military Academy in Harlingen; she thought he'd enjoy the pilot lessons. Castañeda returned, finished out his senior year living with his sister in San Antonio and, with no other plans for his future, decided to join the military. He was dead set on joining the U.S. Marine Corps. "Real men join the Marines," Maria recalls him saying.

Castañeda insisted on becoming an infantryman. He hated the idea of being stuck in a dull desk job. After he finished basic training, he relished the missions that took him to Guam, Thailand and the Philippines. He started collecting canisters of dirt from the places he'd visited.

Castañeda eventually became a scout sniper, joining the 2nd Battalion 5th Marines Scout Sniper Platoon before deploying to Iraq in March 2007 as part of a surge of U.S. troops onto the battlefield.

The details of Castañeda's deployment became part of a letter he later sent the VA contesting his disability rating. In it, Castañeda gave a scattered recollection of firefights, explosions and carnage that's at points difficult to follow. There are, however, a couple of unifying themes in what he wrote. Whatever Castañeda saw clearly weighed on him, and the overwhelming feeling of imminent danger and helplessness never really dissipated.
"I was repulsed by what I saw...I felt that death was so close, and that I would soon die, but it didn't happen."
Castañeda and his mother spoke regularly before and during his deployment. But after he returned to California's Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton in September 2007, he rarely called home. Then, in February 2008, Maria got an unusual phone call from her son.

Claiming he'd been in a training accident, Castañeda wanted to make sure his mother still had him listed on her health insurance. Later that night, Maria got a call from a doctor at Saddleback Memorial Medical Center. Castañeda had been put in a psych ward. "Is he always this paranoid?" she recalls the doctor asking her.

In his letter to the VA, Castañeda wrote he'd been drinking heavily the night before, passed out, woke up and then, in a daze, decided to take his own life. He claimed he'd attempted suicide at least twice before. He'd slashed his arm with a razor, but then had second thoughts, he wrote. He patched his wrist with a T-shirt and duct tape before asking a friend to drive him to the hospital.

Doctors at the California hospital wrote that Castañeda suffered from paranoia and suicidal ideation. Records indicate the hospital told base officials about the episode. In his letter to the VA, Castañeda wrote, "Nobody ever talked to me about having been in the psych ward." Castañeda says that higher-ups did, however, remove all sharp objects from his living quarters.

In the months that followed, Castañeda emailed lengthy paranoia-fueled screeds to Alonzo. "Mom, we've got to get him out of the service," Maria remembers Alonzo telling her. "He's losing it."

Castañeda was honorably discharged in December 2008; none of his discharge paperwork makes any mention of mental illness or his suicide attempt. He drove straight through the night from California to Texas, and moved into an apartment with Alonzo and his two young nieces. Castañeda was, by all accounts, a doting uncle.

Family, however, began to notice that Castañeda's mood had shifted radically since before his deployment. In February 2009, on Castañeda's birthday, Maria brought a cake to his apartment. He was sitting in the dark, sipping from a gallon jug of water. "I don't celebrate birthdays," he told her. He threw the cake in the trash.

Castañeda became obsessed with security. He bought his brother a gun, insisting he needed it for protection. Weeks later, on March 9, 2009, Brendon Ashley Griffin, 24, shot and killed Alonzo Garza in the apartment while Castañeda slept upstairs -- a police report states that upon finding his brother's body, Castañeda grabbed his gun and fired a bullet into his bedroom- door before punching holes in the walls of the apartment. (In 2010, Griffin, who unsuccessfully tried to raise his own insanity defense, pleaded guilty to murder and aggravated assault in exchange for a 30-year prison sentence.)

Castañeda disappeared after his brother's death. He didn't go to the funeral. Weeks later, he called his mother from the Bexar County jail. Blackout drunk, he'd totaled his car, smashing it into a guardrail. Maria remembers he wasn't wearing shoes when she bailed him out. Castañeda's face was bruised. He'd been in a fight he couldn't remember.

Less than a month before Castañeda fired on her house, Maria Esparza filed an emergency application to commit her son to a VA psych ward in San Antonio. Doctors there wouldn't take him.

Castañeda moved back in with his parents. He floundered for weeks, unable to keep a job or sleep through the night. A doctor prescribed him Valium; when his parents later found him in a daze, he said he couldn't remember why the bottle was empty. He started drinking large amounts of cough syrup. One night, the cops called Maria saying they had found Castañeda wandering around an H-E-B parking lot, fumbling and attempting to get into cars.

Castañeda routinely kept a pistol by his side. His temper was getting worse. In the middle of the night, he'd bang on the door to Maria's room, demanding the keys to her car. Maria wondered whether the local VA could help. She had a cousin who worked there, so Maria called to ask for advice. She was both confused and unnerved by what her cousin told her: Keep calling, don't give up, don't let them say no to you.

One night, Maria asked Castañeda why he couldn't shake his diet of cough syrup, Valium and Red Bull. He grabbed his pistol and pointed it at his face. "It's what keeps me from doing this," he told her. Maria ran into the garage, and, after she managed to stop crying, called the VA crisis hotline. Someone at the other end of the phone told her she should consider taking the guns out of the house, so the next day, while Castañeda was out on an errand, that's what she and his stepfather did.

When Castañeda returned to find his guns were gone, he went on a rampage through the house, smashing everything in sight. He frantically called 911, saying he needed protection; one report says he used "extreme profanity" with a dispatcher. The outburst was so intense it triggered a standoff with a SWAT team outside.
"I'm thankful he wasn't shot," Maria says. One responding deputy wrote in his report that "Castañeda's mental state was very unstable."
Castañeda was arrested and -- after many, many phone calls to veterans' groups and local politicians, Maria claims -- was committed to a VA psych ward in San Antonio. Doctors kept him there for nearly two months, prescribing him antipsychotics such as Zyprexa and lithium, along with mood stabilizers to calm him at night.
"He reported that he thought his mother was trying to kill and poison him," according to hospital records.
But once he was declared stable, Maria didn't really know what to do with her son.

She certainly didn't think he was ready to be out on his own. He refused to live with his parents, and the VA wouldn't put him in counseling, she claims.

Maria found Castañeda an apartment near the VA hospital so he could easily take the bus there at a moment's notice. But public transportation proved too confusing. Late one day, Castañeda called his mother, saying he'd missed his stop on the way to the hospital. He was too anxious to talk to the driver. He'd been riding around the city for most of a day.

Castañeda struggled to stick to the treatment doctors had outlined for him. Sometimes he'd take none of his medication. Or he'd take too much and throw up; Maria regularly had to bring a carpet cleaner to his apartment to handle the vomit.
"He couldn't regulate himself," she says.
By July 2010, a year after his first VA commitment, Castañeda began to isolate himself further. He told his mother he no longer felt safe around her. He sent her delusional text messages in all caps. One day, maintenance workers at Castañeda's San Antonio apartment complex called Maria. They'd noticed the apartment was leaking and knocked on the door. When Castañeda opened up, they saw that parts of the apartment had flooded with water, the treadmill was running full speed and the refrigerator door was open with no food inside. Castañeda was disheveled and dazed. He kicked them out and wouldn't let them back in.

Maria filed for a mental health warrant, and San Antonio cops dragged Castañeda out of the apartment when he started to furiously punch holes in the walls. He was again taken to the VA psych ward; it's unclear how long they kept him that time.

In October 2010, Castañeda started texting his mother that government officials were planting dead bodies all over his apartment. She drove to the apartment where he was staying and found him sitting in the dark in an almost catatonic state. He could hardly speak, so she took him back to the VA hospital. Records indicate he was diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder and paranoid schizophrenia. Two days after he was committed, according to hospital records, Castañeda tried to escape. Maria says he punched through a window and ran to a nearby gas station, but when he looked down and saw his badly mangled hand, Castañeda turned back around and sought medical attention at the hospital he'd just escaped.

Despite three escape attempts, doctors kept him there for less than three weeks.

Maria says Castañeda never seemed to stabilize. In the winter of 2010, he even tried to admit himself to the VA psych ward, saying he didn't feel safe at home; Maria told him she was proud of him. One time, he took a taxi from his San Antonio apartment to his parents' Hill Country home, saying he didn't feel safe alone.
"I don't know how to change this," he told her.
By the end of April 2011, Castañeda's mind had descended into something beyond recognition. The text messages he sent to his mother grew increasingly dark. He talked about having sex with dead bodies, about eating his own feces and drinking his own urine.

On April 29, 2011, Maria filed for a warrant to commit Castañeda again to the VA psych ward. She wrote that while Castañeda hadn't yet tried to seriously harm anybody else, "I am afraid he will harm himself...by killing himself."

The VA hospital, however, wouldn't take him. Records indicate Castañeda "knew how to answer their (doctors') questions so that he would not be committed." Maria got a sympathetic text from one of Castañeda's doctors at the VA: "I am so sorry."

Castañeda's text messages to his mother got even more disturbing after that, taking on a twisted, violent and sexual tone. One night, Maria sent Castañeda a message saying she loved him. "Lets all get together and shoot ourselves in the head," he replied. On May 5, 2011, he texted her, "Stop contacting me or ill take a taxi tn ur house and kill u and roy and just go to jail."

Maria showed those text messages to investigators on that morning of May 27, 2011, after Castañeda took a taxi 30 miles north of San Antonio to her Spring Branch home, stood in the driveway, raised his pistol, emptied a clip into the house, reloaded and fired again.

When Comal County sheriff's detective Steve Morris visited Castañeda in jail shortly after the shooting, Castañeda was eager to talk.

Doctors would later guess that Castañeda's delusions were, at least in part, caused by "exposure to trauma during military service." In his mind, past abuse and serious mental illness, perhaps exacerbated or triggered by the paranoia that accompanies post-traumatic stress, had morphed into a strange conspiracy.

In his interview with Morris, Castañeda says his mother wouldn't stop "sexually harassing me," that Maria and her husband were violently and sexually abusive to their nieces. He urges the detective to investigate; he'd seen his parents beat, choke and molest the girls before leaving them to die in the middle of the highway, he insists. He'd seen it all happen, he claims, but couldn't stop it -- "I was sedated and couldn't think of what to do...I'm just going to call the cops every day when I get out of here until they do something."

In the interview, Castañeda tells the detective that Maria and his stepfather were plotting against him. He claims Roy told him "he's going to kill me with my own gun and make it look like a suicide." His mother, he says, "tells me to kill myself." He tells Morris he heard voices telling him to shoot them.

Castañeda tries to convince Morris the bullets he fired at the house were warning shots -- none of the rounds hit the northwest-corner room where Maria and Roy slept, a deliberate choice, according to Castañeda. By the time he talks to Morris, he's not only unrepentant but wondering whether he should've taken things even further.

It was a mistake not killing them, he says. "Now I know that 30 years in prison is worth two murders. I'll do 60 years in prison."

Castañeda sat in solitary confinement at the Comal County jail for more than six months, even though a judge declared him incompetent to stand trial and ordered him into treatment at the North Texas State Hospital in Vernon -- what some pejoratively call "competency camp." After hearing about the case and how a mentally ill veteran had languished in an isolation cell for months, attorney Keith Hampton fought to get Castañeda a bed in the overwhelmed, backlogged state hospital system in late December 2011. Hampton became Castañeda's attorney soon afterward.

The case dragged on for more than three years. Following his arrest, Castañeda was initially booked on two charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and one count of deadly conduct. Comal County District Attorney Jennifer Tharp, however, added two charges of attempted murder. She also added a tampering-with-evidence charge because Castañeda had tossed his gun into the woods that night.

Hampton says he couldn't come to any agreement with prosecutors over an insanity plea; he wanted Castañeda put in indefinite treatment somewhere; they wanted him in prison. Hampton says he scrambled to look for other options that might appease the DA's office. He called veterans' courts in the surrounding counties to see if he could transfer the case; none would take Castañeda. Someone at the VA in San Antonio suggested Hampton try to get Castañeda into an inpatient treatment program for veterans with serious mental illness at the Waco VA. That didn't work, either.
"I came up zero on everything, and I worked for months," Hampton says. "The problem is this: Everybody runs their own little narrow program, and if you don't fit perfectly within their criteria, then you're left out."
Both before and after his arrest, Hampton says, Castañeda fell through the cracks -- either because he simply didn't fit any program or because his family couldn't adequately navigate the red tape to find him long-term inpatient treatment. The recent scheduling scandals at VA hospitals across the country only further point to a rigid bureaucracy that can barely keep service at current levels, let alone expand it, Hampton says.

Two days before Castañeda's trial, prosecutors agreed to allow a judge to decide the verdict in the case; Hampton had gone to a movie theater that Friday to watch American Sniper in preparation for a jury trial.

In court, prosecutors argued that Castañeda knew right from wrong when he fired on his parents' house. He'd proven he wouldn't willingly take any medication he was prescribed for long, they argued -- Castañeda told one doctor who evaluated him that he was allergic to "all psychotropic medications."

At trial, assistant district attorney Chari Kelly insisted, "Being mentally ill is not the same as being mentally insane."

It's an argument Erath County prosecutors made during last month's trial of Eddie Ray Routh.

By most accounts, Routh struggled after his discharge from the Marine Corps in 2010. However, unlike Castañeda, Routh never received a Combat Action Ribbon, and, according to a Washington Post analysis of his service record, it doesn't appear Routh ever engaged in direct combat during his six-month deployment to Iraq. Still, Routh's attorneys have claimed he suffers from PTSD and paranoid delusions (in a 2013 New Yorker story, Routh's father recalled his son ranting about "off-the-wall shit" like Dracula and werewolves). He flew into a rage when his parents suggested he sell his guns. He bounced between commitments at a private hospital and a Dallas VA psych ward. In late January 2013, Routh's mother begged VA doctors to recommit him; she says they wouldn't.

Days later, Kyle and Littlefield picked up Routh to take him shooting at a gun range near Glen Rose. "this dude is straight up nuts," Kyle texted Littlefield, who responded, "Watch my 6" -- watch my back, in military parlance. At the range, Routh shot Kyle five times in the back and once in the side of the head; four bullets struck Littlefield in the back, one in the face and another at the top of his head. Routh stood over their bleeding bodies, reloaded Kyle's 9mm handgun and fled in Kyle's truck. [This is the story the prosecutors told but the evidence doesn't support it.]

Last month, the doctor who treated Routh at the Terrell State Hospital testified in court that Routh was clearly psychotic, suffering from multiple delusions: He thought his cop neighbor was a member of the Mexican Mafia; he thought co-workers were cannibals who wanted to eat him; in the days before he killed Kyle and Littlefield, he thought a race of pig-human hybrids was taking over the earth.

Erath County prosecutors, however, called two expert witnesses who claimed that, despite multiple hospitalizations for mental illness, Routh was faking it. A jury took less than three hours to find him guilty on both murder counts, sentencing Routh to life in prison (Routh's lawyers filed an appeal in the case earlier this month). [The defense experts deny that he was faking it, as does Dr. Phil, who interviewed Routh's parents and sister after the verdict (video below).]

During Castañeda's first stint at "competency camp," doctors wrote that delusional beliefs permeated any discussion they had with him about his shooting. Castañeda urgently asked the doctors to investigate his claims that his mother, stepfather and the government were conspiring against him.

All three forensic psychiatrists who interviewed Castañeda wrote that he suffered from serious delusions brought on by mental illness. Two wrote that he was, in all likelihood, insane at the time of the shooting. It appears the state's expert, Dr. Gregory Paul, disagreed with that finding on a technicality (Hampton calls it "hairsplitting"). Castañeda, Paul wrote, didn't think his nieces were in "imminent danger" when he fired a barrage of bullets at his parents' house. (Castañeda didn't think his parents were actively abusing the girls at that very moment, but did think that they'd done so in the past and would continue to do so, Paul wrote.) When asked whether he feared for his life the moment he shot at the house, Castañeda told Paul he was "not sure."

Still, Paul wrote in his report:
"Although I do not believe that the defendant meets the criteria for criminal insanity" as defined by Texas law, "it is clear that this shooting was the product of severe mental illness, poor insight, and non compliance with treatment."
Castañeda, Paul wrote, was not faking it.

Castañeda's case sat in limbo for so long that he cycled back into "competency camp" at the North Texas State Hospital when a judge declared him incompetent to stand trial for a second time. Bouncing between jail and a psych ward, he sent a judge overseeing his case long, paranoid letters.
"I pray you that you can understand why I was compelled to resort to such measures," he says of the shooting. "I reacted to a valid threat on my life in self-defense."
He assures the judge he still believes in following the military rules of engagement. "Once a Marine, always a Marine."

When deputies led Castañeda out to the defense table at his trial on February 17, it was the first time his mother had seen him in months. She audibly gasped at the sight of him. His face was almost skeletal, with bony cheeks and deep, sunken eyes.

Castañeda gave his mother a sheepish wave before turning to face the judge. He stared down at his feet while a prosecutor read the charges against him. Afterward, with slurred speech, he stood and said, "Not guilty to those charges, Your Honor."

After the first day of trial, Hampton, his attorney, said, "He's barely keeping it together." Castañeda desperately wanted to testify in his own defense. He didn't particularly want to argue insanity; at times, he still thinks the shooting was justified.

Castañeda became increasingly agitated the second and final day of trial. He kept telling Hampton that he felt he needed to explain some things to the judge. "It was, of course, all nonsense," Hampton says.

In his closing arguments, Hampton put a PowerPoint presentation up on the screen inside the courtroom. Castañeda grew angry as Hampton made his final push to convince the judge that his client was insane. Castañeda groaned loudly, saying something inaudible. Hampton calmed him down, and silently clicked through the rest of the presentation, staying on each slide long enough for the judge to read its contents.

On the capital murder and tampering-with-evidence charges, State District Court Judge Dib Waldrip declared Castañeda not guilty. Castañeda was declared not guilty by reason of insanity on charges of aggravated assault, deadly conduct and criminal mischief.

Sometime this month, Castañeda will be transferred from the Comal County jail to the North Texas State Hospital for treatment; it's unclear how long he'll remain there. Six days after Castañeda's verdict, a jury ruled that Eddie Ray Routh knew right from wrong when he killed Chris Kyle and Chad Littlefield.

The two Texas men are in some ways mirror images of each other. Each was hospitalized numerous times for mental illness after returning from war. On February 17, in courtrooms on opposite ends of the state, both mothers testified how the VA discharged their sons in the days preceding their violent breakdowns and how they unsuccessfully urged doctors to recommit the men.

The cases diverge in other important ways. Routh killed two men; Castañeda's two victims are his greatest advocates. A jury sent one Marine to prison for life. A judge sent the other to a mental institution.

Against that backdrop, friends and supporters have made sure to congratulate Maria on the outcome of her son's case -- treatment over prison. It's an odd sentiment that's hard to process, she says. "It's sort of hard to hear...He's mentally ill, he doesn't want to be mentally ill and we've just wanted him to get proper treatment for all of these years."

Most nights, Maria speaks to Castañeda over the phone as he sits inside the jail. Castañeda is still delusional, she says. He's now convinced doctors are trying to kill him and views what has happened to him as a government conspiracy instead of the product of mental illness.

Why The Military Knows Israel Did 9/11

The Ugly Truth Podcast March 15, 2010
One of the brightest minds on the planet, Dr. Alan Sabrosky, comes on board along with co-host Phil Tourney to discuss Dr. Sabrosky's most recent article "The Dark Face Of Jewish Nationalism".

U.S. Muslim leader Salam Al-Marayati, founder of the Muslim Public Affairs Council (MPAC), has been highly critical of Israel. One of his more controversial proclamations came in the wake of 9/11, when he pointed a finger at Israel:
"If we're going to look at suspects [for 9/11], we should look to the groups that benefit the most from these kinds of incidents, and I think we should put the state of Israel on the suspect list because I think this diverts attention from what's happening in the Palestinian territories so that they can go on with their aggression and occupation and apartheid policies," he said in a radio interview shortly after the attacks in 2001, according to the Los Angeles Times.
9-11 Cop Who Arrested Dancing Israelis Speaks

In the first ever interview of its kind (video above), Dave Gahary speaks with the police officer responsible for arresting the "Dancing Israelis" on September 11, 2001, who were caught filming and celebrating while the WTC burned and people died. Sgt. Scott DeCarlo reveals the details of that day, details the Zionist-controlled mainstream media conveniently overlooked. DeCarlo has promised that this is his first and last interview on the subject, in the hopes of quelling ongoing interest in his role that horrible day.

Click here for a transcript of the interview.

The Five Dancing Israelis - 9/11/2001 - Our Purpose Was To Document The Event

The Mossad prides itself on deep infiltration and penetration into every ‘Muslim’ militant group in the world. Thus any media-hyped ‘terrorist’ attack reported by the Zionist-occupied press is doubtless a Mossad operation. All of the Mossad-engineered ‘terrorist’ attacks benefit the Zionists since it galvanizes the Western world into making Israel’s enemies their own and gives Israel a free hand in dealing with the Palestinians, who are looked upon as enemies of the world. In fact, the Zionist Jew, Dov Zakheim, along with his Mossad cohorts, should be put on trial for the theft of public funds, treason, and the murder of thousands of innocent victims at the World Trade Center on 9/11 2001. As the Pentagon’s Comptroller from 2001-2004, Zakheim oversaw three Department of Defense budgets. A study by the Defense Department’s Inspector General discovered that not only could the Pentagon not account for the trillion dollars in monies spent, but that the U.S. Army somehow lost track of 56 airplanes, 32 tanks, and 36 Javelin missile command launch-units. How is that the Zionist Jew, Dov Zakheim, got off Scott free? And where did the money and military equipment end up? I say the money ended up in the hands of the Mossad — and the equipment in the hands of the Israeli Defense Force. For they had “their man” — Zionist Jew Dov Zakheim — in the Pentagon. [Source]

9/11, Israel & the Mossad Investigated with Christopher Bollyn

The 'Dancing Israelis' FBI Report - Debunked

By takeourworldback.com

Thanks to andie531 for obtaining and making available the FBI documents on the "Dancing Israelis": KURZBERG, SIVAN ET AL.

As will be shown, this FBI 'investigation' is very similar to the NIST 'investigations' into the World Trade Center (WTC) buildings collapses, in that the conclusion is politically motivated rather than evidence-based.

Section 5 even reveals how the FBI's NS-2C Unit of its "National Security Division" based at FBI Headquarters, Washington, D.C., ordered FBI Newark to stop their investigation of the Israelis.

The documents were partly declassified in 2005. However, there are many parts that are still blanked out and classified until 2030 or 2035.

Apart from names of individuals, the unreleased material includes longer passages such as the section following the question:
Did the Israeli nationals have foreknowledge of the events at WTC and were they filming the events prior to and in anticipation of the explosion?" The fact that it's blanked out indicates that the answer is clearly not an emphatic "no".
Nonetheless, the material that has already been released is sufficient to prove that the Israelis did indeed have foreknowledge of the attacks on the WTC.

That is of course consistent with:
  • Israel's capability and history of staging false-flag terror.
  • The two hours' advance warning of the WTC attack transmitted via the Herzliya / New York-based Israeli instant messaging service Odigo.
  • The failure of Benjamin Netanyahu's friend Larry Silverman and his children to turn up for work that day at the World Trade Center. [Six months before the 9/11 attacks, the WTC was "privatized" by being leased to the Silverstein Group for $3.2 billion. Instead of renovation, Silverstein is rebuilding, funded by the insurance coverage on the property which 'fortuitously' covered acts of terrorism. Even better, Silverstein filed two insurance claims for the maximum amount of the policy, based on the two, in Silverstein's view, separate attacks. The total potential payout is $4.6 billion, more than enough to build a fabulous new complex and leave a hefty profit for the Silverstein Group, including Larry Silverstein himself.]
  • Netanyahu's advance warning of, and Efraim Halevy's intimate knowledge of, the London 7/7 attacks.
  • The $250,000 "loan" received by Bernard Kerik from Israeli billionaire Eitan Wertheimer, together with $236,000 in rent paid by Steven C. Witkoff after Kerik visited Israel from August 26-29, 2001, to meet with Wertheimer and then claimed on September 16, 2001 that a "hijacker's passport" had been "discovered."
  • Along with multiple corroborating evidence much too numerous to mention in an introduction.
Not surprisingly, experts from such professions as structural engineers, architects, physicists, mechanical engineers, metallurgical engineering graduates, PhD scientists, fire protection engineers, fire-fighters, electrical design engineers, explosives technicians, etc, may be seen speaking out on the ae911truth channel on YouTube, explaining why they know the government's half-baked conspiracy theory about suicidal Arabs with box cutters crashing two planes and managing to bring down three high-rises is believable only by the uneducated and the uninformed.

Excerpts from the FBI official report are included here for easy reference.
Commentary on the transcripts within the transcripts section is enclosed within square brackets, in order that it may be readily distinguished from the actual FBI text. Page numbers are generally included only at the start of another excerpt.

The FBI documents are formatted with a fixed spacing, so it is generally an easy job to determine the number of characters within the classified boxes. The beginning of each paragraph is indented by ten spaces, and there is a double-spacing between sentences. Where a paragraph starts with "(S/OC/NF)", for example, that is followed by two spaces before the start of the first sentence. The position of the last character on a line is not predictable, but sometimes the section is repeated elsewhere with the word in question appearing part-way along a line. Moreover, the FBI do not obliterate the exact same words each time a passage is repeated, so an examination of all repetitions reveals more information, such as how Paul Kurzberg worked for the "Jewish Agency".

Exposing the Fraud of 9/11 in 22 Minutes

"Several ... intelligence sources who spoke to longtime federal whistleblower Stewart Webb, alleged that the controlled demolition of the Twin Towers and WTC 7 was called 'Operation Code Angel,' also known as Tripod II - a U.S. Department of Justice 'war games' exercise involving the Federal Emergency Management Administration (FEMA) ...

Shortly After 8:46 a.m. September 11, 2001: Neighbor Sees Suspicious Men Documenting First WTC Attack and Cheering, Calls Police

A homemaker living near Liberty State Park, Jersey City, New Jersey sees three men behaving strangely on a nearby roof and alerts the authorities. This homemaker, who has given only her first name Maria, is called by a neighbor shortly after the first plane has hit the WTC and is told about the impact. She has a view of the WTC from her apartment building so she gets her binoculars and watches the disaster. However, she also notices three young men kneeling on the roof of a white van in the parking lot of her apartment building. Maria will later recall, “They seemed to be taking a movie.”

They are taking video or photos of themselves with the WTC burning in the background. But what strikes Maria is their expressions: “They were like happy, you know… They didn’t look shocked to me. I thought it was very strange.”

She writes down the license plate number of the van and calls the police. [ABC News, 6/21/2002]

Apparently the men leave the area a few minutes after the first attack is over. [CounterPunch, 2/7/2007] An FBI lookout bulletin for the van will be issued later in the day (see 3:31 p.m. September 11, 2001) and the three men (plus two more discovered with them) will be detained (see 3:56 p.m. September 11, 2001).

When the men detained, one of them will be found with pictures of the group standing with the burning wreckage of the WTC in the background. [Forward, 3/15/2002] At least some of the pictures were taken while standing on top of the van. [New York Times, 10/8/2001]

The lawyer for the five men will later note that one photograph developed by the FBI shows one of the men, Sivan Kurzberg, holding a lighted lighter in the foreground, with the burning WTC in the background. [New York Times, 11/21/2001]

It will apparently be determined at least two of the men are Israeli spies, but what they were doing and why will remain in dispute. One of these Israelis will later say, “our purpose was to document the event.” [ABC News, 6/21/2002]

3:31 p.m. September 11, 2001: FBI Issues Lookout Warning for White Van Possibly Connected to 9/11 Attacks

[Source: Public domain via Israeli television] The FBI issues a BOLO (be on lookout) bulletin for three suspicious men who were seen leaving the New Jersey waterfront minutes after the first hijacked plane hit the WTC (see Shortly After 8:46 a.m. September 11, 2001).

Law enforcement officers in the greater New York City area are warned in a radio dispatch to watch for a “vehicle possibly related to New York terrorist attack.” The bulletin reads, in part: “White, 2000 Chevrolet van…with ‘Urban Moving Systems’ sign on back seen at Liberty State Park, Jersey City, NJ, at the time of first impact of jetliner into World Trade Center….

Three individuals with van were seen celebrating after initial impact and subsequent explosion. FBI Newark Field Office requests that, if the van is located, hold for prints and detain individuals.”

The van is located a short time later and five men inside it are arrested (see 3:56 p.m. September 11, 2001). [CounterPunch, 2/7/2007]

3:56 p.m. September 11, 2001: Five Apparent Israeli Spies Arrested for Puzzling Behavior at Time of First WTC Attack

The white van used by five Israeli agents as they were leaving New York on 9/11.The white van used by five Israeli agents as they were leaving New York on 9/11. Five Israelis are arrested for “puzzling behavior” related to the WTC attacks.

Shortly after an FBI lookout bulletin was issued for a van with the words “Urban Moving Systems” written on the side, officers with the East Rutherford Police Department in New Jersey stop the van after matching the license plate number with the one given in the bulletin.

According to the police report, Officer Scott DeCarlo and Sgt. Dennis Rivelli approach the van and demand the driver exit the vehicle. The driver, Sivan Kurzberg, does not obey after being asked several more times, so the police physically remove Kurzberg and four other men from the van and handcuff them. They have not been told the reasons for their arrest, but Kurzberg tells them, “We are Israeli. We are not your problem. Your problems are our problems. The Palestinians are the problem.” Again before the police have made any mention of the 9/11 attacks, another one of the arrested men says, “[W]e were on the West Side Highway in New York City during the incident.”

In fact, it will later be determined they were on the roof of a building at Liberty State Park, watching and videotaping the first crash into the WTC (see Shortly After 8:46 a.m. September 11, 2001). [Bergen Record, 9/12/2001; Ha'aretz, 9/17/2001]

The FBI and additional police quickly arrive. They shut down the section of Route 3 in East Rutherford where the van was stopped and evacuate a nearby hotel as a security precaution. [Bergen Record, 9/12/2001]

One man is found with $4,700 in cash hidden in his sock, another has two foreign passports on him, and a box cutter is found in the van. [ABC News, 6/21/2002] Another has pictures of the men standing with the burning wreckage of the WTC in the background. [Forward, 3/15/2002] All five identify themselves as Israeli citizens and claim to be working for the New Jersey-based Urban Moving Systems company.

In addition to the driver Sivan Kurzberg, the others are identified as Paul Kurzberg (Sivan’s brother), Oded Ellner, Omer Marmari, and Yaron Shmuel. The men are detained but not charged. [Forward, 3/15/2002; ABC News, 6/21/2002]

The next day it will be reported that “bomb-sniffing dogs reacted as if they had detected explosives.” An investigator high up in the Bergen County law enforcement hierarchy will say in 2006, “There are maps of the city in the car with certain places highlighted…. It looked like they’re hooked in with this [referring to the 9/11 attacks]. It looked like they knew what was going to happen.…It looked like they knew what was going to happen when they were at Liberty State Park.” [Bergen Record, 9/12/2001]

The FBI will later conclude at least two of the five are Mossad agents and that all were on a Mossad surveillance mission. The FBI interrogates them for weeks. [Forward, 3/15/2002] They are held on immigration violation charges, but will be released 71 days later (see November 20, 2001). [ABC News, 6/21/2002]

September 12-November 9, 2001: Two More Movers Arrested in US; Suspected to Be Israeli Spies

Five Israeli men working for the Urban Moving Systems company had been arrested on 9/11 over suspicions that they had foreknowledge of the 9/11 attacks (see 3:56 p.m. September 11, 2001), and now two more Israeli men working for the same company are arrested. The two men, Roy Barak and Motti Butbul, are driving one of their company’s moving vans in northern Pennsylvania when they are pulled over and arrested at around noon on September 12, 2001. Barak has overstayed his six-month visa and Butbul has no work permit. Both were in the Israeli military, Barak as an ex-paratrooper and Butful as a cook. Barak says he worked for Urban Moving Systems since the summer of 2000.

The two are detained and sometimes kept in solitary confinement, but they later claim no ill treatment. Barak will later recall that US interrogators were most interested if he was connected to the Mossad, the Israeli intelligence agency. “They asked if someone sent me to the United States. They asked me if I worked in a moving company so I could monitor people’s movements.” He is given polygraph tests and claims to have satisfied his questioners except on the issue of who sent him to the US. On November 9, 2001, both are deported back to Israel. [Atlanta Journal-Constitution, 11/18/2001]

Around this time intense political pressure is put on US officials holding five Israeli men arrested for suspicious behavior at the time of the 9/11 attacks (see 3:56 p.m. September 11, 2001).

According to the Israeli newspaper Ha’aretz, Deputy Secretary of State Richard Armitage and two unidentified “prominent New York congressmen” lobby heavily for their release.

According to a source at ABC News, well-known criminal lawyer Alan Dershowitz also becomes involved as a negotiator to help get the men released. (Dershowitz will later refuse to comment on the matter.) [CounterPunch, 2/7/2007]

ABC News will later report that was “high-level negotiations between Israeli and US government officials” over the five men, resulting in a settlement. [ABC News, 6/21/2002]

Apparently the political pressure will succeed because the men will be released a few weeks later (see November 20, 2001]).

November 20, 2001: Israelis Who Videotaped WTC Attack Are Released and Deported

Some of the men’s names had appeared in a US national intelligence database, and the FBI has concluded that at least two of the men were working for the Mossad, according to ABC News. However, the FBI says that none of the Israelis had any advanced knowledge of the 9/11 attacks, and they were released as part of a deal between the US and the Israeli government.

After their release, they claim to have been tortured. [Forward, 3/15/2002; ABC News, 6/21/2002]

Four of the five Israelis arrested on 9/11 (see 3:56 p.m. September 11, 2001), Paul and Sivan Kurzberg, Omer Marmari, and Yaron Shmuel, file a multimillion dollar lawsuit against the US Justice Department.

They claim they were arrested illegally, then held without charge and interrogated and tortured for months.

Their lawyer claims the case will serve as a venue to debunk theories that Israel was behind the 9/11 attacks. [Ha'aretz, 9/16/2004; Jerusalem Post, 9/16/2004]

Forward, a publication geared towards the Jewish population in the US, reported in 2002 that the FBI concluded at least two of the five were Mossad agents and that all were on a Mossad surveillance mission. [Forward, 3/15/2002]

As of early 2011, there have been no further media reports about this lawsuit.

9-11 WTC Biggest Gold Heist in History: $300 Billion in Bars

Robert Torricelli Smear Campaign Lead by The New York Times Cost Him His Re-election

It's amazing how this country changed after 9/11. The USA Patriot Act, all 342 pages of it, was presented to Congress just 19 days after 9/11. That sprawling piece of legislation contains more than 150 sections and amends more than 15 federal laws. It was pre-written and just waiting for 9/11 so that it could be quickly passed and signed into law. How else could the government strip the people of its liberties without a fight? Then on November 25, 2002, the Homeland Security Act was signed into law, creating the Department of Homeland Security. The ultimate mission statement of this agency, with its $40 billion budget, will be turned inward and used as a federal police department and a standing army against U.S. citizens. It is a private army for an oppressive government that doesn't have the good of U.S. citizens at heart.

The DHS has turned local law enforcers into soldiers. Thousands of local police departments nationwide have been amassing stockpiles of military-style equipment in the name of homeland security, aided by more than $34 billion in federal grants since the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. The buying spree has transformed local police departments into small, army-like forces and has put intimidating equipment into their hands, jeopardizing public safety and civil rights while creating an expensive false sense of security.

That America ever existed without such an agency, I mean, wow how did we do it? How did we put on our shoes and pull up our pants without yet another body of bloated law enforcement? Obviously we need to grow the government so that we can fight about how to increase the tax burden even further and force even more Americans to suffer. Seems like a good idea to me, you know. Never mind, we should just round everyone up and chip them, scrap all personal and individual rights, and just use them as slave labor...but wait no, then they wouldn't be paying 'taxes' and they would cost us instead of supplying us with income. No, better to leave them like free-range cattle and just slowly whittle away at individual freedom, until one day everyone is nothing more than wage slaves, working just to pay taxes and to eat so they can work some more, to pay more taxes....oh wait, that's already here isn't it?

What the DHS has really accomplished since its inception is to slowly abrogate the rights of the citizens in the name of the so-called "War on Terror."

When the government fears the people there is liberty. When the people fear the government there is tyranny.

People willing to trade their freedom for temporary security deserve neither and will lose both.

Democratic New Jersey Senator Robert Torricelli attempted to uncover the facts surrounding the 9/11 tragedy in a speech before the Senate on September 26, 2001. Torricelli addressed the Senate again on February 5, 2002, calling for an “open” Board of Inquiry on 911, saying:
“President Bush has suggested that we hold private hearings regarding the 9/11 tragedy. This is not how we conduct the Government. Our accountability is to the people of our country. Yet the administration claims that such hearings would be a distraction from the war on terrorism. That is not our history or how we conduct our Government. Accountability is at the core of any representative government. This Nation needs an independent board of inquiry to determine the events of September 11.”
Torricelli served as a member of the U.S. House of Representatives from New Jersey's 9th district from 1983 to 1997 and as the United States Senator from New Jersey from 1997 to 2003, until a smear campaign headed by the Zionist-run New York Times forced him to withdraw from the race for re-election.

Late in an increasingly competitive race against Republican Doug Forrester in 2002, Torricelli suddenly withdrew after disclosure of illegal contributions to his campaign by David Chang, a businessman connected to North Korea. Torricelli had previously denied this and a number of other charges. In his withdrawal speech on September 30, 2002, he stated that despite leaving public office in a different way than he had planned, he was proud of his service. Shortly thereafter, the New Jersey Supreme Court unanimously ruled that the Democratic Party could legally replace Torricelli's name on the ballot with that of former U.S. Senator Frank Lautenberg, ironically a longtime Torricelli nemesis, with whom he had often publicly feuded. New Jersey Republicans had contested the Torricelli–Lautenberg swap on the grounds that the deadline for ballot changes had long passed. It seemed apparent to many that Torricelli had only made his decision after local polls showed, for the first time, that the scandal had damaged his re-election chances beyond repair. On July 30, 2002, Torricelli received a formal letter of admonishment from the U.S. Senate Select Committee on Ethics, for his involvement with David Chang, and for the acceptance of gifts including a CD player, television, and earrings. Bernie Kerik, 9/11 and America’s Zionist-controlled press

Kerik made $6.7 million by selling stock given him by Taser International. [Source] Kerik’s story is obvious: seduced, first, by being around the Saudi’s and their infamous lifestyle, then by Giuliani, one of the most controversial figures in history and, finally, thrown into the 9/11 conspiracy.

THE MYTH OF POOR BERNIE KERIK AND THE 9/11 COVER-UP

One of the strangest things seen in America in recent days was the press coverage of the sentencing of Bernie Kerik as a crooked cop.  Day in, day out, Fox News does little but talk up the heroics of Bernie Kerik and how he is being wrongfully persecuted by the courts.  There is much more to this story than Fox will report or than Fox is able to hide.

What is now obvious is that Kerik’s threat is that he is the only important character central to the 9/11 case to be going to jail.

How did a poor boy with a GED go from dog handler for the army in Korea to, according to Rupert Murdoch, “one of America’s greatest heroes?”  According to Kerik’s bio, his 3 year stint as a dog handler had him as one of the most experienced trainers of Special Forces though he was neither Ranger nor Special Forces qualified, thus making his bio a total fiction.

Compare the fates of Kerik and Erik Prince of Blackwater.  ABC News accusations tied Prince to murders and gun running as part of a “crusade to eliminate Muslims.”  Witnesses mysteriously disappeared and Blackwater was tied to one scandal after another.  Prince, millionaire long before Blackwater and son-in-law of the Amway/GOP Christian extremist billionaire, Dick DeVos of Grand Rapids, Michigan, simply changed the name of his company, first Xe, then Parvel and the billions keep rolling in.  Kerik, for 1% of Prince’s transgressions, goes to prison.

What was Kerik really and why is Fox News so terrified of him and what he could say?

He was a “fixer” and and the only real gangster in the whole Bush mob.  He played the street thug among a pack of blowhards, their “go to” guy when dirty work had to be done; but, in the end, showed his colors: phony, crybaby and fraud.  His short stint in the Army and his inflated resume landed him a job cleaning up messes for the Saudi Royal family, a job even a rat would vomit over.  Another of my closest friends held a similar job during much the same time.

No Hollywood scandal sheet could match the stories of utter debauchery working for the Saudi royals supplies.  My guess is that working for the Saudis touched him as it has so many others, that close to that much corruption and hypocrisy.  Giuliani and Bush would be just another pair of “whore-mongering princes” to Kerik.

Kerik, who went from “bankrupt” as a cop to “stock manipulation” millionaire days later, picked up a 1.2 billion dollar contract training the Iraqi police.  Senior American military officials who met with Kerik while he was “touring” Iraq indicated that he was “utterly unqualified and without any substance whatsoever.”  They called his entire operations “a sham.”

Lt. Gen. Sanchez said of Kerik:
The former commander of U.S. forces in Iraq took aim at Bernard Kerik in an exclusive interview with the Daily News Sunday, calling his efforts to train Iraqi police in 2003 “a waste of time and effort.”

Retired Lt. Gen. Ricardo Sanchez, the top military leader in Iraq from June 2003 to June 2004, blasted the former police commissioner for failing to produce results while Kerik was the interim minister of interior in 2003.

“I would be hard-pressed to identify a major national-level success that his organization accomplished in that time,” Sanchez told The News a day before his new memoir, “Wiser in Battle” hits bookstores nationwide.

“He is a very energetic guy. He is very confident – overconfident to an extent – and he is very superficial in his understanding of the requirements of his job,” Sanchez said. “His whole contribution was a waste of time and effort.”

Sanchez said when Kerik left Iraq, after just 90 days, he checked the Interior Ministry’s inventory to see what equipment was bought for the Iraqi police. Sanchez said he was “shocked” to find out that the only thing on the books was 50,000 Glock pistols.

“When I was informed of the exorbitant prices that were being paid for these pistols, my first reaction was that there had to be some impropriety, but I had no evidence to substantiate it,” he wrote.

Sanchez also told The News that he was “flabbergasted” when he heard that Kerik was nominated secretary of Homeland Security. The nomination was dropped days later, after Kerik admitted to hiring an undocumented nanny, and in November he was indicted for bribery and tax evasion.
Other sources indicate Kerik was trying to take over the black market and prostitution trade in Baghdad.  Mysterious and unauthorized raids on whore houses thru Iraq by “police trainers,” along with massive financial irregularities in everything Kerik touched in Iraq, paints a picture Fox News also seems to have missed.

Kerik, among other crimes, stands convicted of lying to get himself confirmed as Director of Homeland Security.  Why would Bush want a now convicted felon, someone rated as “useless” by Bush’s most senior military commanders in the administration’s most important post?  What needed skills did he bring that any other convicted felon couldn’t, especially a more successful criminal?

Pimp, bagman and self promoter?  Was this on the resume from that period?  He could have been a real hero: he had the makings of it but was seduced by lesser men, hardly men at all — Giuliani, Bush and so many others, people he must have felt sick being around, a pack of “girlie men” as our “Governator” would call it.

THE PHONY 9/11 “HERO” GAME

The only real fame that has stuck to Kerik from 9/11 is his use of an apartment meant for fire fighters working at “ground zero” for “nooners” with his multiple mistresses.
Bernie Kerik, who counts Rudy Giuliani not only as his friend but his mentor, is also the subject of a lawsuit brought by book publisher Judith Regan against the News Corporation (owner of Fox News) for encouraging Regan to mislead federal investigators about her sexual relationship with Kerik during his bid to become the Homeland Security Secretary.

News Corp. allegedly did so in order to protect Rudy Giuliani’s presidential campaign. (Regan and Kerik reportedly used an apartment near Ground Zero, that was supposed to be used by exhausted 9/11 rescue workers, for their sexual affair).
You might think Fox News would remember this when talking about Kerik’s supposed 9/11 heroics.  Their memory is conveniently short it seems.

9/11 brought out every profiteer and con artist America had.

Guiliani and Kerik built a billion dollar empire out of nominating themselves as heroes of 9/11, when hundreds of others died serving the city of New York while they played the crowd and ran back and forth to Washington. Giuliani and Kerik would have ended up, had things not gone bad, with all the Blackwater or Dyncorp contracts, worth tens of billions, had it all not come crashing down.

Kerik actually got a knighthood from Queen Elizabeth for, well, hanging out with Giuliani and Bush, much the same way he hung out with the Saudis.  Perhaps the queen could arrange a knighthood for Tiger Woods, Silvio Berlusconi or Rupert Murdoch.  Giuliani got a knighthood also, for “helping the British relatives of 9/11 victims.”

What next, a sainthood for Al Capone and Meyer Lansky or a posthumous Nobel Prize in Medicine for Dr. Mengele?

You have to give Giuliani credit.  Not only did he push to have as many terrorist suspects arrested as possible, in massive sweeps, but has had the foresight to come in behind them and represent the same “terrorists” through his law firm.  I love moral flexibility of this kind, as does Liz Cheney, who called him on this.

However, Rudy’s big liability is always going to be Kerik.

Dan Collins writes of Kerik:
What’s really amazing here is that this cheap crook and charlatan should have achieved such wealth and lofty position in the first place. While Kerik has left an impressively long trail of wrongdoing, it bears the fingerprints of a petty criminal. During the period the former New York City police commissioner was raking in megabucks, he shortchanged the government by a little less than $200,000, according to the prosecutor.

There was an off-the-books nanny, bogus charitable deductions, the unreported free use of a car and, of course, the well-known apartment renovations paid for by a construction company with suspected mob ties. Kerik earned well over half a million dollars from his best-selling rags-to-riches memoir, but he only thought to conceal about $70,000 of his book income from the government.

There’s little doubt Bernie had bigger dreams. He set up a Delaware corporation to park income from his lucrative post-9/11 speaking engagements. He also created an offshore account for himself by forming a shell corporation in the Cayman Islands.

Kerik’s greatest strength was loyalty to the boss, combined with a low cunning that enabled him to manipulate people.

An eyewitness to the latter quality was Judith Regan, the hotshot book editor who published Kerik’s memoir. Regan was one of two women Bernie was making love to in an apartment overlooking the ruins at Ground Zero that a developer had donated for the use of rescue workers in need of rest.

She split with Kerik when it dawned on her that Bernie wasn’t going to leave his wife, as promised.

“The night I was done with him was the day of the New York marathon,” she told HuffPost blogger Len Levitt. “The guys from his detail took me to the tent he was in. He started crying, ‘I love you. You can’t leave me.’ He was crying in front of everyone inside the tent.”

“He cries on cue,” Regan lamented. “He did it when he was interviewed on 60 Minutes. He did it when he went on Oprah and he spoke about his mother.”
The same press that is crying over Kerik going to jail for corruption while NYC police commissioner is also attacking anyone asking for a new investigation of 9/11.

With the Commission itself saying it was misled, one of the prime sources on 9/11, Kerik himself, now a convicted felon, should be drowning in questions and accusations, not accolades for a petty crook. Especially with the revelations that the Commission entirely missed the impossible controlled demolition of Building 7, something that had to have been supervised by Kerik, something that required weeks of preparation, and something now tearing America apart.

Why doesn’t the press mention that President Bush actually nominated this convicted felon to head the Department of Homeland Security?  Instead we got Michael Chertoff, who represents the companies making body scanners, and is now tied to another great coverup, the “crotch bombing” of Detroit last Christmas.

WHEN THE PRESS CRUCIFIED EVERYONE ELSE, WHY NOT KERIK?

Normally, the press would be calling Kerik:
  • reputed mobster
  • Giuliani “bag man”
  • “violated the public trust”
  • phony hero/glory hound
  • corrupt public official
  • convicted felon

Instead, Kerik has gotten more press than all the Watergate or Iran/Contra figures combined with the exception of Oliver North.  What we aren’t asking is why?

WHY DOES THE JUDGE DUMP ON KERIK?

We move into the area of conjecture.  Kerik was arrested and jailed by the same administration that appointed him head of Homeland Security.  It doesn’t take much imagination that his conviction or rather “plea agreement” is after a cover-up and shoody investigation.  This would have angered a judge, knowing a serious criminal was getting a short sentence and would be free to pick up his hundreds of millions in “ill gotten gains” the moment he left his “country club” prison.

Sources indicate that Giuliani and Kerik had remade New York City into the Chicago of the 1920s but on a scale unimagined.  9/11 theorists all believe that having Giuliani and Kerick in place made the attacks possible.  The revelations on Building 7 and the now public statement of Silverstein admitting to a sinister controlled demolition, inconsistent with any possible engineering reality, normal fire fighter tactic or any other human possibility.

We are left with incontrovertible evidence of something extremely wrong, involving Giuliani and Kerik personally, involving billions in possible insurance fraud and something mysteriously timed to an “unexpected” disaster.  All the “Fox News” subterfuge in the world can’t talk there way out of this one.  Is all the press supporting Kerik a way of trying to make him keep his mouth shut?  Was the prison sentence a way of pressuring him to talk?

Anyone really involved in 9/11, especially anyone involved in perjured testimony to the 9/11 Commission, should face a lot more than a few years in prison, perhaps even the death penalty.

There is simply no way to explain 9/11 and “pulling down” a 47 story building with 10 minutes of preparation without conclusively proving nearly everyone that profited from 9/11, the Iraq War or who pushed forward draconian legislation wasn’t involved in planning the attacks themselves.

Let’s stop kidding ourselves: this is where it goes, no other explanation is possible, and Bernie Kerik may be the key to all of it.  Why else would the press care about someone who is so very “yesterday” when we have troops fighting a major war in Afghanistan, a war the press has pushed aside to plea for the freedom of a corrupt public official at the center of the 9/11 controversy?

WHY KERIK, NOT BUSH OR CHENEY?

In some ways, Kerik is a victim.  He is the “wrong side of the tracks” guy, no Yale education, no time in Congress, and a history of getting his hands dirty.  Kerik was the “garbage man” and, in the end, was tossed on the scrap heap himself.  It was expected Kerik would get a presidential pardon from Bush.  When that didn’t happen, obvious ripples of fear went through the communities that Kerik could testify against the massive insurance ripoff at the World Trade Center (recently leased and over-insured against terrorism and then almost immediately attacked); or the endless other machinations originating from New York City where Kerik, not only a Giuliani business partner but Bush insider, would have been consulted continually.

He was the only “street smarts” in the entire deluded Bush organization.  The continual orchestrations of the press look like what they are: a press controlled by Israeli/Zionist interests, which seems, for some unknown reason, to have nothing in the world to talk about but defending a guy who knows too much, way too much, who someone seems very afraid of.

Kerik’s story is obvious: seduced, first, by being around the Saudi’s and their infamous lifestyle, then by Giuliani, one of the most controversial figures in history and, finally, thrown into the 9/11 conspiracy.

I can imagine how it might have gone:
“Our people will be out of the buildings, and if we don’t do this, Israel may fall, Islam will take over the world, and America might become Socialist.  If we hadn’t rigged the last election, Gore would be in office right now and Communist China would be running Wall Street.  You don’t want that do you?”
Throw hundreds of millions at anyone, drown him in medals, honors and continual meetings with even the most incompetent and idiotic of presidents, and few could keep any sense of honor or decency.  The real fear today is that Bernie Kerik may actually be some of what he says he is, a hero.  If this is true, it will blow America off the map with a scandal only an alien invasion could overshadow.

Could Israel and Fox News arrange that?

The USS Liberty Cover-up [Excerpt]

By What Really Happened

The 1967 Israeli attack on the USS Liberty killed 34 American servicemen. After the ship was disabled by aircraft cannon, rockets and napalm, Israeli torpedo boats were sent in.

President Lyndon Johnson and his defense secretary, Robert McNamara, ordered that the inquiry conclude the incident was an accident. In a signed affidavit released at a Capitol Hill news conference, retired Capt. Ward Boston said Johnson and McNamara told those heading the Navy's inquiry to "conclude that the attack was a case of 'mistaken identity' despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary."

It was “one of the classic all-American cover-ups,” said retired Admiral Thomas Moorer, a former Joint Chiefs of Staff chairman who spent a year investigating the attack as part of an independent panel he formed with other former military officials. The panel also included a former US ambassador to Saudi Arabia, James Akins.
“Why would our government put Israel’s interests ahead of our own?,” Moorer asked from his wheelchair at the news conference. He was chief of naval operations at the time of the attack.Moorer, who long held that the attack was a deliberate act, wanted Congress to investigate.

Fifteen years after the attack, an Israeli pilot approached Liberty survivors and then held extensive interviews with former Congressman Paul N. (Pete) McCloskey about his role. According to this senior Israeli lead pilot, he recognized the Liberty as American immediately, so informed his headquarters, and was told to ignore the American flag and continue his attack. He refused to do so and returned to base, where he was arrested.

Later, a dual-citizen Israeli major told survivors that he was in an Israeli war room where he heard that pilot's radio report. The attacking pilots and everyone in the Israeli war room knew that they were attacking an American ship, the major said. He recanted the statement only after he received threatening phone calls from Israel.

The pilot's protests also were heard by radio monitors in the U.S. Embassy in Lebanon. Then-U.S. Ambassador to Lebanon Dwight Porter has confirmed this. Porter told his story to syndicated columnists Rowland Evans and Robert Novak and offered to submit to further questioning by authorities. Unfortunately, no one in the U.S. government has any interest in hearing these first-person accounts of Israeli treachery.

Why Did Israel Attack USS Liberty? [Excerpt]

Why did Israel try to sink a naval vessel of its benefactor and ally?

Most likely because ‘Liberty’s’ intercepts flatly contradicted Israel’s claim, made at the war’s beginning on 5 June, that Egypt had attacked Israel, and that Israel’s massive air assault on three Arab nations was in retaliation. In fact, Israel began the war by a devastating, Pearl-Harbor style surprise attack that caught the Arabs in bed and destroyed their entire air forces.

Israel was also preparing to attack Syria to seize its strategic Golan Heights. Washington warned Israel not to invade Syria, which had remained inactive while Israel fought Egypt. Bamford says Israel’s offensive against Syria was abruptly postponed when ‘Liberty’ appeared off Sinai, then launched once it was knocked out of action. Israel’s claim that Syria had attacked it could have been disproved by ‘Liberty.’

Most significant, ‘Liberty’s’ intercepts may have shown that Israel seized upon sharply-rising Arab-Israeli tensions in May-June 1967 to launch a long-planned war to invade and annex the West Bank, Jerusalem, Golan and Sinai.

Far more shocking was Washington’s response. Writes Bamford: ‘Despite the overwhelming evidence that Israel attacked the ship and killed American servicemen deliberately, the Johnson Administration and Congress covered up the entire incident.’ Why? Domestic politics. Johnson, a man never noted for high moral values, preferred to cover up the attack rather than anger a key constituency and major financial backer of the Democratic Party. Congress was even less eager to touch this ‘third rail’ issue.

Leaked document exposes pro-Israel lobby’s manipulation of US public

By Electronic Intifada
April 25, 2003

The Electronic Intifada has obtained, and today publishes in full, a document prepared for pro-Israel activists by the public relations firm The Luntz Research Companies and The Israel Project. The document spells out the tactics that Israel and its US advocates should use to maintain support for Israel and its hardline policies.

The document, entitled “Wexner Analysis: Israeli Communication Priorities 2003,” counsels pro-Israel advocates to keep invoking the name of Saddam Hussein, and to stress that Israel “was always behind American efforts to rid the world of this ruthless dictator and liberate their people.” Despite his solid support for Israel and Ariel Sharon, the document warns pro-Israel advocates not to compliment or praise President Bush. At the same time it acknowledges that Yasser Arafat has been a great asset to Israel because “he looks the part” of a “terrorist.” The installation of Mahmoud Abbas as Palestinian prime minister, and potential replacement for Arafat, comes “at the wrong time,” because he has the potential to improve the image of the Palestinians, and that could put the onus on Israel to return to negotiations. The document advises supporters of Israel to appear to affect a “balanced” tone, but admits that in arguing for Israel’s policies, the illegal “settlements are our Achilles heel,” for which there is no good defense.

The document was commissioned by the Wexner Foundation, a private foundation that funds, among other pro-Israel initiatives, “Birthright Israel,” a program that pays for young American Jews to take free trips to Israel. The Israel Project is an initiative of pro-Israel organizations, political consultants and businesspeople. The Luntz Research Companies is a leading public relations and opinion research firm.

Here is some of the key advice the document provides to Israel and its advocates:
  • “Iraq colors all. Saddam is your best defense, even if he is dead. The worldview [of] Americans is entirely dominated by developments in Iraq. This is a unique opportunity for Israelis to deliver a message of support and unity at a time of great international anxiety and opposition from some of our European “allies.” For a year - a SOLID YEAR - you should be invoking the name of Saddam Hussein and how Israel was always behind American efforts to rid the world of this ruthless dictator and liberate their people.”

  • “The fact that Israel has remained relatively silent for the three months preceding the war and for the three weeks of the war was absolutely the correct strategy - and according to all the polling done, it worked. But as the military conflict comes to a close, it is now time for Israel to lay out its own “road map” for the future which includes unqualified support for America and unqualified commitment to an ongoing war against terrorism.”

  • “It DOES NOT HELP when you compliment President Bush. When you want to identify with and align yourself with America, just say it. Don’t use George Bush as a synonym for the United States. Even with the destruction of the Hussein regime and all the positive reactions from the Iraqi people, there still remains about 20% of America that opposes the Iraqi war, and they are overwhelmingly Democrat. That leaves about half the Democrats who support the war even if they don’t support George Bush. You antagonize the latter half unnecessarily every time you compliment the President. Don’t do it.”

  • “SECURITY sells. Security has become the key fundamental principle for all Americans. Security is the context by which you should explain Israeli need for loan guarantees and military aid, as well as why Israel can’t just give up land. The settlements are our Achilles heel, and the best response (which is still quite weak) is the need for security that this buffer creates.”

The Briefing President Bush Received on August 6, 2001

According to ABC News, George W. Bush spent the entire month of August 2001 on vacation at his ranch in Texas, which is not typical behavior for someone who is president. Other reports, however, reveal Bush continue to recieve the “Presidential Daily Brief” at the ranch, strongly suggesting he was still president.
This is the briefing he received on August 6, 2001:
